The Winnipeg Free Press thanks you for your heroic invasion of Canada and care less attitude in the breaking of our immigration rules, Yahya Samatar.

But could you do something for us after you've drained our court system of years of court time and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

When you do finally get righteously booted back to Somalia, could you take the Winnipeg Free Press with you?

Let me get this straight: They say they escaped the United States to get to Canada? [huh]

That's what a bunch of Tamils did in the early '90s. Snuck across the railroad tunnel between Windsor and Detroit, popped up on the Windsor side and requested "sanctuary" or whatever. Like seriously? You can be a refugee from the US? Who knew? :?

My own predecessors did that. Should I make a list of all of the refugee groups that have come here from the U.S.?

The root population of English Canada were refugees from the U.S., for one.

Same here. My Great-Great Grandfather fell in love with a slave girl and came here where she was free. Their son was given land by Queen Victoria to homestead, and it's still a family destination for those who want to use it.

... one of many groups.

I have two groups of very different EUL ancestors who both came to Upper Canada under extreme duress from Pennsylvania and New York.

BTW, I live in a small neighbourhood that was one of the termini of the Underground Railroad. It has certainly been *gentrified" since then but it is still on the tour circuit.

This country is truly the "last stop" for freedom. There is nowhere else to go from here.
