The whiners at the law society of Alberta don't like him dissing the "kangaroo courts" of the HRC? So what. Again he's saying stuff that somebody has to have the balls to step forward and say.
Nobody's proving anything he's saying is incorrect. Their only claim is they don't like it.

They are saying that as a member of the Bar, he should respect the law and the court system, even if he doesn't agree with it.
Or, he can choose to not be a member of the Bar. No different than any other professional organization.

Yeah that's BS. He may be a lawyer, but he's also a journalist. he wasn't acting as a lawyer at the time. He was clearly in his role as media personality. If you don't like what he has to say, then switch it off.

According to the transcript of the appeal hearing, Levant's lawyer James Rooney said, "there is obviously quite a bit of malice between these gentlemen."
There's quite a lot of malice in these two "gentlemen" guaranteed. A perpetually outraged racist and professional victim.

The last month or so no one is happy unless they get to silence other people and it is really getting bad.

I'm offended that you expect me to be happy all the time. I demand you retract this statement and issue a full public apology!
I'd also like $10,000,000 for mental anguish.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Ezra Levant has always come across to me (and likely a lot of other people, including CPC supporters on this site) as the kind of guy who always thought he was the funny, smart rebel who was always sticking it to the man in high school, but who his classmates thought was a smug, annoying twerp that they wished would just shut the hell up.
However, he's actually very clever when it comes to tactics. When people go after him like this, he can just depict himself as a martyr for free speech against the monolithic academic/media/progressive elite, and make his opponents look like the villains who are determined to silence any voice contrary to their own.
Really, the best way to deal with somebody like Levant is to ignore him, or call him out on his crap when necessary. A guy like Levant lives for the spotlight-go after him legally and he'll depict you as the bully, probably while getting somebody to play a violin for him. Ignore him and he loses a lot of his impact, since he can't play to his strengths nearly as well without a larger audience.
And all of the above aside, as Megan and 2Cdo and Fiddledog have all alluded to, is this really something the Law Society needs to be wasting its time on, especially with our tax dollars? Government coffers are already pretty stretched, so surely there are better uses for tax money, right?
...Right?

The society says Levant's practising status with the society is inactive, meaning he's a member but is not insured and not entitled to practice law
Soooo...much ado about nothing then. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but, if you're not entitled to practice law, then you ain't a lawyer.

"It's a disgrace that lawyers who pay enormous dues [to the Law Society of Alberta] are paying for this prosecution of me," said Levant.
It's their professional organization. Let them run it however they want.

Fair enough, then. Doesn't make it any smarter, though.

Re: Levant vs. anyone else. Sometimes it's not a case of right vs. wrong, or no white hats vs. black hats. Sometimes it's simply a case of two equally malicious assholes yammering at each other.
