I felt this one that's for sure.

8O Was it like a shake or a shimmy? :D

Different ones actually do feel like that. Sometimes there's a side to side motion and others are an up and down shake. Last large one we had when we were overseas was one of the latter types. Think of standing on a rail crossing with a very large tractor trailer going across it. Not fun when you live in tall buildings.

I know what you mean. The last one I really felt was in 2001 from one in Washington state. Felt the ground going from side to side and it was the weirdest feeling

The big one in the Charlottes a couple years back shook my house here for a good 20 seconds and I live 400 miles inland. Didn't even feel today's.

I've been through ones that you could sit and watch the floor roll like a wave passed through it. You couldn't stand up and couldn't run. It was freakin terrifying. Although I always wondered why the floor didn't pop all it's nail until it dawned on me that the whole house was doing that. 8O

Then they were walking along the stream together and he said, "Maria, I love thee and thou art so lovely and so wonderful and so beautiful and it does such things to me to be with thee that I feel as though I wanted to die when I am loving thee."

"Oh," she said. "I die each time. Do you not die?"

"No. Almost. But did thee feel the earth move?"

"Yes. As I died. Put thy arm around me, please."

A shaker. This is hard rock here on these islands.

The few that I felt when I lived in Richmond felt more like a shimmy. Like the ground was rolling.

Weird how very different the feeling was.

And Hyack... very funny

That might be because of the river delta goo underfoot in Richmond. A wave would go through that like through a bowl of jello ... or tapioca, more likely.

Earthquakes - argg
Last summer made my first trip out to Nfld for the niece's wedding. They finally went on their honeymoon and where do they pick? Nepal, Mt. Everest.
They posted a pic on FB with Everest in the background, said they were on their way to base camp and blam!
Heard nothing for almost 48 hrs, the whole family was shitting bricks. Woke up to the TV news shots of the devastation at the base camp and barely slept. My sister must've gone though hell worrying.
She got a short call about 1am that they're okay. Thank God! They even made CBC Nfld news!

I wonder when "the big one" will hit. It's bound to considering two plates meet not far away.
