I think she left out the part about the dog running up to the deer and barking.

That's usually what dogs do when an unwelcome intruder enters their turf.

The deer would consider the dog to be a funny looking wolf.

$1:
"Everybody's out walking on this road, and there's deer all over the place … and maybe [it’s a good idea to] let people know that there's a … deer [that’s] pretty aggressive in the area."

Deer are wild animals. They may seem cute and cuddly in movies, but they will frell you up when cornered or protecting their young.

I've seen the other side too, the son of one of my favourite dogs ever chased down and took a good bite out of a deer. He's a purebred Irish Wolfhound, and is almost bigger than the deer.

Best thing to do is chase them away. If they get comfy, the wolves will follow and they don't make good neighbours.

I think they were playing tag and the dog is a sore loser.
I'm having lunch with her husband today.......I'll get the scoop.

Plus, we seem to keep forgetting that we are the ones encroaching on their home, NOT the other way around. The animals are simply protecting what's theirs and humans need to start showing a LOT more respect for that. Instead of chasing the creatures away, we are the ones that should be working on being the "good neighbours" to all of the innocents we keep displacing.

No, sorry, we keep breeding so we need more space. Better to chase the animals away than getting into conflict with them.

What exactly is their space, and what's ours? Who decides?

I'd worry if I was a deer then. Do deer project all their unmet dependency needs on cats? I don't think so.

So Oliver is doing fine, just a little roughed up. Talked to the son who chased him away too. He had to use a 4x4 to convince her to scoot and it wasn't in a big rush to leave either.
