We can do the same here in Alberta. Up in this area, European Boars got out and were doing very well in the wild. From what I heard though, a couple winters back the main population of boars all got yarded up in a big swampy area north of Valleyview due to heavy snow. I guess a couple packs of wolves found them and ate rather well that winter.

Here in Sask. it's trickier. Apparently wild hogs are not considered game and therefore fair "game" but if some farmer claims you shot his escaped pig you are on the hook. Go figure. The Wild Hog Watch on Facebook from the U of S is interesting. Not near as popular as Sarah Palin but who could compete.
