The vast majority of federal departments have public affairs wieners who put together a daily list of relevant news to that department....but not necessarily to the whole government. They are just getting with the program....

As an example, DND publically publishes http://www.cfc.forces.gc.ca/257-Eng.html although this site pales in comparison to the internal information.

As an interesting and totally irrelevant factoid, did you know that most military public affairs officers washed out of some other occupational training? True shit....I kid you not!!!!

Why not.

You put stuff out for the public to see, don't be surprised if it attracts more attention than you would like.

Simple solution - don't post stuff that can get you in trouble. But this kind of oversight banks on the irresistible urge some people have to blab.
