Disgusting as it may sound, had then used the proper channels and paid for his Visa this wouldn't be happening. This sounds more like a family trying to embarrass the British Gov't into changing their rules because they didn't do their homework about British Immigration Law and citizenship.

Acting on advice Ms Leung and her German-born fiancé Mr Dietz decided he should apply for a residency card and then have Jamie registered as his dependent.
I wonder who gave them this wonderful piece of advice? The article in the paper appears to be trying to insinuate that it was the British Gov't that's guilty of offering bad advice but if I was to hazard a guess it would be that some sleazy immigration lawyer, relative or non existent person is probably to blame.
I wonder what his learning disabilities are? Could his disabilities be the sympathy card and they've decided to play it to garner support? There is far to much about this story that we don't know and until it comes to light if it ever does I don't think we can pass a judgement on either party.
