Well I can certinaly understand why she would want to sue. Hope she is going after the police force and the officers pay and pension.

I wish there were more details on what happened the night she was shot. Pretty hard to say from the information provided what the officer should've done more...?

I do agree with the general legal principal here that a person's charter rights don't neccesarrily end at death.

$1:
RCMP were called to the scene by a neighbour who heard the gunshots, but the officer never got out of his car, reporting later that everything looked normal in the area.

The officer in question was later found guilty of disgraceful conduct and docked a day's pay.

The cop didn't want to let his coffee get cold and have to clean the doughnut crumbs off of his ballistic vest. Only being docked a day's pay for his laziness can also be called disgraceful conduct, this time by the RCMP.

No kidding. That's pretty sad right there. If he left his car, and actually checked the house, he could have probably seen a sign of the girl and her boyfriend in their very serious state.

Did they actually have the address where it happened? Or did someone just call and say they heard gun shots somewhere?
