yikes....people have to learn to drive for conditions. The speed limit is based on ideal weather conditions and a dry surface. Slow down.

Quick lets find out why the contractor for that highway didn't have it clear enough to stop this! None of the other highways have 300 car pile ups!

At least it seems that no one was criticaly hurt.

None of the other highways have the volume of traffic as the QE2

In fairness, the QE2 is one of Canada's busiest highways - something like 44,000 vehicles use it everyday, and all it takes is one guy hitting his brakes (for whatever reason) and you've got the makings of a major accident.

Actually, given the huge numbers of people on this road all year long, day after day, year after year, if they were as bad as you think, this would happen all the time, not once every 5-10 years! :P

This photo explains it a little better.

Wow. What a mess. That will take some time to get cleared up.

Definitely a rough day to be a first-responder in that area.

And there is no mention whatsoever of a 300 car pile up. It said 300 people were injured, and some buses were involved. CBC has actually revised their numbers down to 100 with only 1 serious injury. But then again Xort knows all.....usually 'sweet fuck' precedes it as a qualifier.

On a 10km stretch of highway yesterday in Québec City, 3 separate accidents pretty much at the same time... including one with 2 tractor-trailer. Of course, I had to get around all that.

In all fairness, AHS was reporting earlier in the day of 300 injuries. The number was changed a few hours later.

Wasn't really commenting on the report itself....just Xort bus's inability to read The initial report said 300 injuries, not 300 cars.

I've seen this picture used so many times today it's driving me crazy. I downloaded it Dec. 4 2009 from the Calgary Sun and it is about 25 minutes north of Calgary, just south of the small town of Carstairs. There's no coulee like this between Edmonton and Leduc. Pretty kool pic tho, I guess that's why I saved it.
