stemmer stemmer:
You haven't seen the new ZR1 have you? or the Impala SS, retro Camaro?
The fact you are biased and bigoted I can excuse. But there is no excuse for ignorance...

Stemmer, you're a fucking idiot. Go look in the mirror.

Why don't you show us where Shep said North American cars weren't allowed to race in NASCAR?

As for biased and bigoted, just reflect on your posts as the unofficial mouthpiece for GM. It would also seem that in your case ignorance is bliss thus making you the happiest person on this site!

Quit fighting amongst yourselves and stick to the issue.
Today's news is that Ford has jumped on the concession bandwagon, now Chrysler took all the heat.

GM settles with the CAW and says its good.
Chrysler says they must take way deeper cuts.
Ford says they must take way deeper cuts.

They're starting the downward spiral as they grovel for public bailouts.

MEanwhile over at Honda, they came out with perfect sense. The problem isn't what the workers get paid, or the retirees. The problem is nobody's buying cars. The Big 3 weren't whining when cars are selling. We'd be far better off to offer buyers a $3500 gov't incentive to trade in a 10 year old car and buy a new one. That would also do as much to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas as all the other more expensive alternatives at the same time.

Of course Honda would benefit. It's already building the cars people want to buy instead of playing fucking politics and promising to make them sometime down the road

How many people can afford a ZR1?

And, how many Camaros have been sold so far? NONE.

That Impala { http://www.chevrolet.com/impala/#impala-ss } what are they touting as the big draw? The Bluetooth sound system.

I've seen Impalas before, and that's why the most recent incarnation earns the moniker 'Whimpala'.

I've owned more GMs than I have Fords'. But I haven't owned a GM in 10 years, because they didn't have any attraction for me. No style, no performance, no eyecandy.

THATs an Impala.

So is that.

For 09, they have a modified and castrated Camry. We both know how well a V8 does in a front drive configuration, after all.

Besides, I've never owned a Chrysler, so I won't miss them if they are gone.

They are trying that in Europe, results seem positive.

Short term plan to get people buying, I guess the hope is the economy
will turn around, so the rest of us buy later on.

One of us has seriously misunderstood the news reports on this. None of the auto manufacturers has come anywhere close to suggesting that 'they' would drop the price of their vehicles by $3,500.00! In the reports that I watched Ford approached the Govt with the proposal that THE GOVT OFFER A $3,500.00 TAX INCENTIVE TO BUYERS OF NEW CARS. This being the case, none of the 'big 3' would be giving up a single dollar. You and I along with every other taxpaying citizen would be financing this proposal 100%. All Ford is doing is putting lipstick on a pig. It is still a bailout, ADDITIONAL to the 2.3 BILLION DOLLARS they still want!

Here's what i find maddening - where are the consumer incentives?!?!? Why aren't these cars on sale? It's money off - only on cash purhases - XM radio deals, service incentives, but why is this one of the only industries that is above making a little profit on its products?!? I'm starting to lose a lot of patience for these companies - perhaps this is part of the corporate culture that got these guys in this situation in the first place.

Start knocking the price down and quit bitching about bail outs!

Yup, how its working over here too.. Even better, there is a limit to the amount
of money in the kitty for this.

SO, if you want to avoid paying normal price for a car, and of course having
to pay for the tax incentive, in other words paying twice...

better go get that new car right now !!!

3500 dollars for a 10 year old car? must be a real POS if you were willing to take that little amount...but, then again a GM drops 80% in value as soon as you drive it off the lot
