The term 'newfie' is considered a derogatory term by a lot of Newfoundlanders.

Type 'Newfie Wikipedia' in google and read up.

Sure, it once held some endearing qualities but it has deteriorated into a word much like the "N" word in the south. All it does is give mainlanders a sense of oneupmanship when they use it. I say ban this insidious word entirely from our vocabulary.

The only meds I'm on are blood pressure pills and I've had to up my dosage since this thread began.

What more do you want Newfoundland to do?
