BartSimpson BartSimpson:
bootlegga bootlegga:
War is organized conflict between two nation states, while a mass shooting is a civilian almost always attacking other civilians.

bootlegga bootlegga:
That you - supposedly a former Marine - is ignorant of the difference speaks volumes on the issue.

The victims don't care abut the difference and neither should you.

Victims of those murdering soldiers? Some self hatred coming out here?

I probably have to spell it out for you, so you don't play the victim too much here: You say there's no difference between a mass shooter (ie a murderer) and a soldier in war, and say the people shot by both are "victims" Do you have any idea what you are saying here?

I didn't say that and I refuse to defend anything I didn't say.

The Soviet Union had more deaths in WW2 than any other country and had no gun control. Although at this point, the argument has become so convoluted I'm not even sure what's being argued anymore.

The Bolshevik revolution was able to happen as a result of the Stalin gangs ability to access firearms.

Stalin came to power because of a lack of gun control. Citizens were in fact armed and lost because of this fact. It's called the Russian civil war, look it up.

Actually, you did. You put yourself in this mess by saying:

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
bootlegga bootlegga:
... a war is not a mass shooting.

[stupid]

This is the absolute most ignorant and absurd comment I've seen on the entire 'net all year!

WTF is war if it isn't a mass shooting?

Either way, you come out as the idiot here.

If you really mean that comment, you're saying that soldiers are indeed mass murders. But, you should know better and know that war does not equal a mass shooting. It's far more than that.

Literally one of the dumbest comments you've ever written; and that's saying a lot.

That's the point, the poster was created in 1918, after the Bolsheviks took power. It was their access to guns that enabled the October revolution. After seizing power, Stalin implemented gun control, by then the damage was done. Unfettered gun access had already allowed for this tyrant to come to power.

Moreover, the Nazi's killed millions of armed Russian soldiers. A few extra citizens with guns would have changed absolutely nothing.

You're spinning pretty hard here and you're going to make yourself dizzier than usual. Spin a little faster and maybe you'll pop an aneurysm and die.

If you'd be kind enough to post a link to streaming video of the event that'd be most appreciated!

No spin.

That's how you wrote it and how many of us interpreted your comment.

If you didn't mean that, perhaps you should proof read before you hit submit.

Endless thousands of armed and angry Russian soldiers and sailors flocking to them was what turned the tide in the favour of the Bolsheviks. I highly doubt that whatever civilian cadre they had, armed or not, made the difference. The civil war that erupted afterwards was fought almost entirely by soldiers who joined either the Reds or the Whites, not by a mass of armed citizenry.

Going by the activities of the Stahlhelm and the SA there wasn't much gun control in Germany at the time either. The average German probably wasn't carrying but the ex-soldiers in the militias and paramilitaries certainly were. This all came to an end when the Nazis consolidated power and the only ones allowed to be armed were the police and the military. This would have been nothing new to most Germans though because they never had the tradition to begin with of civilians being armed anyway, except maybe in times of war or for hunters/farmers for predator control.
