Killing puppies looking for grow ops

While the loss of a puppy is sad, and I know you loves you a joint, once you become a home-owner I think you'll start to see having combustable crime-magnets in your neighbourhood as a hell of a bad thing.

Which is an odd reaction to plants.

It may be, but there is a simple reality that drugs and crime go hand in hand. And don't flog the make it legal argument as you see the same thing with tobacco in Ontario these days.

[quote="Bacardi4206"]How is it a breach of liberty? They aren't breaking into your homes doing random searches. quote]

Ever hear the term "Gateway Drug"? This is a Gateway Law, they are slowly putting the squeeze on us to rob us of our liberty!!! All in the name of public safety, just like those bullies in the airports who are so tough they push around old ladies but actually couldnt stop a person with a gun if they wanted to!!!

Where will it end?? Who knows but it wont be anywhere I would want to call home

You won't find too many cops that agree with random breath tests.
It doesn't make any sense.

The police can conduct RIDE checks anyway, the SCC has deemed it a reasonable infringement of charter rights vs community safety. But still it has parameters. To demand a sample of breath you need grounds.

Demanding a sample without grounds doesn't make any sense and wastes everybody's time.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:

It's not the plants that are the problem. It's the industrialized growing of plants in a residential structure. There are serious engineering issues in that. The house can burn down if the op isn't wired to handle the loads, threatening neighboring houses. If the wiring is done poorly, the ground can become electrified and passers-by can be electrocuted even without entering the house. It attracts the crminal element, and they don't necessarily care about innocents in the area if dealings go south.

Whether or not decriminalization is a good thing, grow-ops are a bad thing and must be fought against.

Agreed hurley. I think a few of us had this very conversation with curt a while ago.

Grow-ops in residential areas are a fire hazard.

And wouldn't exist if dope was legal. Much cheaper to grow in a greenhouse/warehouse somewhere, and more efficient too. So I think the legality argument has some merit here.

I can see it now, you're driving home and get pulled over. The cops makes you do the breath test as its just a "random stop". You pass and go 3 more blocks and get pulled over again for another one. Then one block from the house you get pulled over a 3rd time. Next morning driving to work you get stoped 5 times for the breath test. Could drive someone to drink and thus wow you get pulled over found to have been drinking and bang see this stuff works they cought another drunk driver.

I think it has a lot of merit andy. I've said it many times before, the prohibition of narcotics has been as successful as the prohibition of alcohol. Only the gangsters are having a good time.
