Ya just look at all you won Donny  government handouts and the stereotype of being drunks, thieves, beggars and miscreants. Some prize. :|

Ya, and despite the face that I am successful, pay a ton of taxes and teach my beautiful children to be kind, generous and honest people your children remind them of that fact every day in school.

SO forgive me if I don't thank you for teaching your children that.

Who says I do?
Im just saying that you shouldnt claim victory when you can clearly see you have not won anything. No one has. What happened was a poor attempted to disarm a situation, and should have never been considered a long term solution.

You must, because you just called my treaty rights "government handouts". That is prejudice because not honouring treaty makes you a squatter. And I bet you don't teach your kids that.

How old are you, do you remember Oka in the early 90's?
I'll refresh your memory.

I'm sixty. I remember Wounded Knee. I'm also aware of what the native peoples have been put through by both British in Canada and the Americans to the south. It's a history that serves as a great dishonor to both nations, and three hundred odd years later we still baulk at "natives" and their entitlements.

The Mohawks came to Upper Canada with the British after the American Revolution. They were given 6 miles either side of the Grand River. Loyalists were given other lots. Loyalists sold their lots over time, so did the Mohawks.

These were not treaties but land grants. Give these legally sold lands back to the Mohawks then you give back the legally sold lands to the descendants of the Loyalists.
You should read up more on this subject wada before making passionate but incorrect posts.
All FN claims are not equal.

I don't recall saying they were. And I won't stoop to the level you think you can provoke me to. [B-o]

When did I say that these stereotypes were my personal view or even correct? :?

Where's the provocation? You stated:

"I suppose it would be too much to suggest the government simply HONOR any and all Treaties that have been established and any established in the future, rather than call on the government to pursue a course of trying to steal as much as possible and protecting their advantage with the military. If you truly want this resolved then call on your government to simply do the "Right" thing. The honor of your country is at stake."

This thread is about the Mohawks. There was no treaty, the Mohawks have been in Upper Canada/Ontario as long as the United Empire Loyalists and were given land grants, along with the Loyalists, for services to the Crown in the Revolutionary War.
Like the Loyalists, over time, the Mohawks sold off their lands. If we are to give the Mohawks this land back then we should do the same to the descendents of the Loyalists.
I pointed this historical fact out to counter your passionate, but over simplified view on the whole native issue.

We are talking about Mohawks here and I am merely pointing out the facts, which you seem to be unaware of.

If that's provocative then your skin is way to thin matey. Got an emoticon for 'thin-skinned'?

Donny, I congradulate you for avoiding the pitfalls that face alot of your people.
I know it's not easy to hold your head high and dodge all the shit life throws at natives.
I can honestly tell you that MY CHILD has no such feelings towards Natives or any other minority as I've taught him to be better than any Aryan Nation scum.
And despite my posts I have nothing but respect for Natives like you that are working and contributing to society.

I have not once "balked" at Natives or their entitlements.
I AM BALKING at they way they go about getting their entitlements, I was under the impression that's what this thread was about.
Not once did I say that they don't deserve what they are asking for, I did say that the rest of us don't deserve to have our daily lives disrupted because of their protests.

Chobin. My apologies. I did use a blanket statement and in no way was it meant as a personal accusation. I can understand your frustration but to be honest I'm more sensitive to the native frustrations. My feeling is blame the government and not the peoples they have been screwing around for for age upon age. [B-o]

I'm cool with that, I can surely agree that Natives as a whole have been screwed for most of our history. Apology accepted and please accept mine if I have offended. [B-o]
