I'm glad Harper got the break, beats wimpy Dion, Taliban loving Jack and the Bloc/FLQ connection from having any power for the time being.

faile faile: Scape Scape: It's too bad Thanos and Poquas are in the vocal minority. We need more like them, not more of the rabid types. What this country really needs is four years of deadlock. No more stupid new laws yay! Seriously, it's time to start taking responsibility for our world and stop relying on idiots to run it for us. Agreed, well Dion's is leaving maybe the next leader won't get constantly backed into a corner or goaded into abstaining every vote in order not to trigger an election this time. One can dream... The good that will come from this is it will force a pause to the bullying and a focus on the country. How long that will last is anyones guess.

Nothing has changed but a little longer Christmas vacation for the Harpers. Gives Queen Laureen time to clean sussex drive and pack up the dishes. No matter how you swing it or would like it to be ridenrain harpers days are numbered. Wow... a few posts into the thread and you're backed into a corner so badly that swasitka comes flying out of your little bag of arguments... Fail.

Canadaka Canadaka: I agree Thanos, that is what he SHOULD do, but Harper has shown no will at all to do any of that the last week. And blew his biggest chance last night. I suspect he will just pour millions into the propiganda machine, tons of ads and such to try and scare people and some MP's from dropping out of the coalition. Yes that is sure a leader, that sure is democracy. Good points, mind you to be fair, the coalition tastes blood, and I can't see them backing down even if Harper reached out.

Fail. So we tell him now or sould we wait to inform him that 3/4 of Candians would rather see an election happen than the coalition take power. With that in mind I can't see any GG turning over the reins to the coalition with out calling an election, the results of which would all most for sure be a Conservative majority.

I still remember the misogynistic, xenophobic reaction from some of the CKA Conservative caucus when the Liberals announced Jean as the next G-G, funny how she's saved the Tory bacon now. It's the right thing though, regardless of whether the coalition is constitutionally legal or not the people don't want it, me included. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail, Harper will eat a little crow, try and keep his hatred of the Liberal party under control for a while and give the Grits, NDP and Bloc a graceful way to backdown without being humiliated.

Yes, I remember as well. called her a separatist and had them checking her husband out.. plus other things that we cant mention... just depends on the torys needs and the flavour of the day.

Where can they retreat to? Is Jack just going to say: "Ok.. it was just a test to see if you were awake?". For all the damage to Dion, Jack and the NDP were the greedy rats who brokered this deal and they can't blame all, or even most of it on Dion. My worry is that unless something is done to prevent this again, our parliamentary system will be tainted from now on. We'll have huge sweeping majorities on one side then the other, with decades of fighting and bickering for scraps in between. I just hope that our politicians learn to fear their ridings more than their party.

The coalition is legal so is the PM asking to pull the plug on parliament. It comes from the same rule book. The coalition supporters figured they had a different rule book to achieve their goals, surprise, surprise.
