Some people fail to notice that apart from the womens' vote, Palin will likely also appeal to conservatives because of her strong pro-life stance, amongst other things. McCain really needed a move like this to reassure his conservative base.

tritium tritium: OH FUCK MSNBC!!!! Now, how is it that people are jumping up and down saying ....oh, he only picked her because she is a woman, just trying to get the women's vote. When those same people say anyone who thinks Obama got the nomination because he is an African-Americian is a RACIST ...hum. Obama is just a Black Lou Dobbs. Nothing he says is new, I have heard it all before over the last four years from Lou Dobbs. btw, C.M. Burns - Dion will never be elected. Likely the same people that have made up and rather extreme political pictures in their signature blocks. You know... idiots.

lily lily: Why do people assume that women will vote for a woman simply becasue she's a woman? Not "ALL" women will vote for her. But the way that both the Democrats and some Republicans are starting to talk about her.. demeaning to women, what a nice "little lady" she may get the votes because women just want to see her gain office and bust up the old boys club that seem to dominate politics.

Ok i may be ignorant...but being a Canadian...I really could give two fucks about who is the president or vice president. If we have to rely on who is the next in power, what does that say about us as being a country and being what we are?...I agree Bush is an idiot but he has fucked his country not ours

Canadian conservatives have more in common with U.S. Democrats (Liberals) Add that to the lengthy list of topics YOU know shit about. Liberals and NDP's in Canada would be considered far, far left socialist in the USA. (Obamafascist) Maybe you want to classify yourself as a "Canadian" Conservative, fine: Please check off which ones apply to you; (short list) Pro-life Pro-NRA (Gun) No Same Sex Marriage

Reworking political definitions to fit your idiotic non-thoughts is another sign of your vapid jackassery. Keep sitting there cow-eyed and confused - it's one of the better things you can do that also allows for your drooling.

Once in awhile a post or two about American politics is fine, but continuously on a Canadian site gets monotonous....and quite frankly boring. We are our own country...pick one and stay with it.

Keep sitting there cow-eyed and confused - it's one of the better things you can do that also allows for your drooling. http://www.theseminal.com/2007/06/04/oh ... e-vs-ours/The Canadian Conservative Party…well, let’s just say I wish our conservatives were more like this. Truth be told, the Conservative Party in Canada is pretty close in ideology to the Liberal Party, especially when it comes to the economy, but they differ when it comes to social issues. But upon further examination it’s easy to conclude that the differences the two main Canadian Political Parties have when it comes to social issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc.) aren’t really that far apart at all. For example, the leader of the Conservative Party, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, is against gay marriage but not against civil unions. Wait a minute…that’s the so-called Conservative Party? In America that was Howard Dean in 2004, and I think we all remember how he got treated. Harper has even gone so far as to state that while marijuana possession should still be illegal, it should be fined rather than result in imprisonment. How ’bout those northern Conservatives! I’m sure there’s a lot I’m leaving out here and since I don’t live in Canada (yet), I’m sure someone out there will criticize me for this, but social issues in Canada don’t appear to really provoke the same level of anger that they do here in the States. For social programs, it appears that the problem isn’t whether to fund them or not, but rather how much to give. Crime doesn’t appear to be a huge issue due to their gun laws and lack of gun related deaths, religion doesn’t appear to play that big of a role in government, and from what I hear people don’t lock their doors. For the most part the two parties are pretty much center to left-center of American politics and couldn’t really exist on a national level here the way that they do in Canada. That suggests to me that Canada, as an entire nation, is more liberal than America. It reminds me a lot of many European nations such as, obviously, Britain but also Germany. Sure, Canada has its problems just like any other place, but it is also a nation of great prosperity with one of the world’s highest per capita incomes.
