Would have been nice for some resistance to have been put up. One ship made a go of it before the Russians blew out their rudder.
In addition to ships lost, most of their naval infrastructure was in Crimea. They're going to have to rebuild their navy from damn near scratch.
The USN has some recently decommissioned OHP's. Should refurb them, throw in some SeaHawks, train them on the equipment, etc.
You have to wonder how much point there is to:
A) a Ukrainian navy that is trapped in the Black Sea and
B) a Russian fleet that is also trapped in the Black Sea.
It's sort of a waste of resources for both parties as either fleet can be bottled up, trapped or even wiped out, depending on the level of conflict. The chances of them making it out of the Dardanelles unscathed is pretty damned close to zero. Both of these nations are land powers by reason of geography. They shouldn't waste a nickel more on ships to tie up and rust in Crimea.
