Yogi Yogi: hurley_108 hurley_108: Yogi Yogi: Keep him alive. For what reason????
Because you don't just get to kill people. Isn't that what this is all about? Seriously. I cannot comprehend a single reason to keep Li alive. Does anyone really think that his mental condition can be cured/controlledto the point that he will possibly be released back into society to be a contributing member. Of course not! so that grings us right back to my question Why keep him alive?no argument here Yogi, but make a good post for number 3000 !!!! ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

martin14 martin14: But there is no guarantee he wont be out, maybe not in a week, but 3-4 years ?
and what about the rest of us ? Well we'll just have to trust that if he is released in 3-4 years, he will have been treated in some way, convinced to keep taking medication, something, in those years.

Worse, even, because we'll be doing it in a supposedly rational state of mind.

romanP romanP: JustKate JustKate: If Canadians don't freak out about this, there is something wrong with us. The McLean family from Winnipeg deserves our support and outrage on this.
What if it was your family member? Think about the passengers on the bus too that witnessed this. OMG! Sad day in this country. Is being outraged going to bring back Tim McLean from the dead?

JustKate JustKate: From every thing I've searched, Vince Li just came to Canada from China in 2001 via a sponsor. Explain to me why you think we should have to pay now to look after this Chinese monster after he killed a Canadian so brutally? Why does it matter where he came from? If he was born in Canada, would you be less upset right now? Do we incarcerate people based on how "brutal" the crime was and the mob mentality of people who are angry that a murder happened, or do we incarcerate based on the amount of motive and planning that went into the crime? Our justice system is not a lynch mob for your sick pleasure.

Some times I think our country sucks. Our justice system doesn't protect us and lets us down and the government disarms us so we can't protect ourselves. Victim - No rights! Criminal - Protected! Backwards is what I see clearly.

RUEZ RUEZ: hurley_108 hurley_108: I realize your arguing with kenmore, but that's no excuse to be obtuse. Yes, Tim didn't deserve to die, let alone so horribly. But just because an act is sickening isn't reason to treat a human being like an animal. Li isn't sane. No sane person would do what he did. I would have thought that would be obvious. Give me a break Hurley. How is forcing people to take their medication so they don't decapitate random people, treating them like animals? How do you propose to force them?

What if it was your family member? Think about the passengers on the bus too that witnessed this. OMG! Sad day in this country. Is being outraged going to bring back Tim McLean from the dead? You are missing all my points. No, it's not but Tim's family and friends and the bus victims are still here. Are they not being considered? I think not. Your points are irrational at best. What will being outraged do for Tim McLean's family? Will it bring Mr. McLean back from the dead? Because that's about the only thing they could really want. Both the victim's family and the accused agreed that Li is not criminally responsible and should be in a hospital. So, whatever it is you feel everyone should be outraged at is asking more than the victim's own family wanted, and is therefore a completely inappropriate reaction.

Criminal - Protected! Backwards is what I see clearly. What in the world are you talking about? Li is going to a mental hospital, where he will likely stay indefinitely. He isn't being sent on a tropical cruise to the Bahamas or whatever crazy thing you've invented in your head. It only seems backward because you're speaking from a wholly ignorant perspective.

We can't bring Tim McLean back, but we could do something here that prevents it from happening again!
