Toro Toro:
So let me get this straight - a coalition government of nearly 20 less seats

That's 20 less politicians that will have to be paid out of taxpayers' pockets. Where's your deficit spending now?

Zipperfish Zipperfish:
Harper was a fool to throw down the gauntlet the way he did. He's retracted the more contentious aspects of his "economic update" but still, the wheels were put in motion.

However, I don't approve of this proposed coalition government. Regardless of the parliamentary peccadillos that may allow this to hapen it is clear to me that the Canadian people voted, and wanted to vote, for a Conservative minority. I have my reservations about Harper, but I thought, upon reflection, that Harper was a better leader than Dion. Not easy for me, since I backed Dion in his leadership bid (in spirit--I'm not a member of a political party).

As much fun as it is to watch the COnseravtives' heads explode--and it is indeed fun--we are talking about the governance of Canada as a nation, not fun and games. I hope the coaltion will relinquish its ambition once offered some concessions by the Conservatives. Thta's the best cae scenario for me. If not, I trust the Governor-General will make the correct decision and call an election.

Well said Zipper!

Oh, so you want an election because your party lost? You DO realise that, if there were another election today, the Conservatives would win... again? What is it you people smoke when your mommies are not looking? You wish us to waste a further $300 million because YOU and your pinko ilk are unhappy?

Gee, it would probably come as a surprise to pretty much here at CKA that I'm a pinko.

Compared to me, EVERYONE's a pinko. After all, I am a national socialist. A fascist of the highest order. I am not blinded by socialist idiotic dogma.

Nope, you're blinded by your infantile posturing and ignorance! You don't even know what a National Socialist is, Lucy, and the last time you waddled down this particular road i schooled your uneducated ass. This time will be much of the same. Befuddle away, Cylon-Boy, befuddle away!

It is a sad day, but only time will tell if it is the right move for them or if it will led to a Conservative majority.

Worst day on our stock market in many years.

Let's have as many elections as we have to untill the losers get the picture.

Hey, I think this is a bad idea. I was just comment on whether this will work out or backfire for the New Liberal Bloc party.

I wonder what this deal with the devil is going to do to NDP and Liberal support in the West?

Bad day on all the big north american ones

But what a fall it was: Canada's S&P/TSX composite index closed at 8406.09, down 864.41, points or 9.3 per cent – the most severe one-day downturn this year in percentage terms, and the worst since the crash of 1987. In the United States, the Dow Jones industrial average closed at 8149.09, down 679.95 points, or 7.7 per cent. The broader S&P 500 closed at 816.21, down 80.03 points, or 8.9 per cent.

Perhaps ours was exacerbated by the coalition news, but it certainly wasn't caused by it.

Time to write a letter to "the Dose" and see what great federal funding extravaganzas that the block will hand out to Vancouver. My guess is it won't be enough for Ujhol to print his propaganda rags.

Actually, he got booted from the Space Channel's forums for arguing Battlestar Galactica stuff and then when typical batsh*t insane. I poke with the BSG references because it seems that in between screwing up history and politics, he dresses himself up like a toaster.

They keep talking about bailing out the forestry industry  . Like that's going to happen. You may see a few bucks thrown BC's way (the loins share will go to Quebecs forestry industry) but it will be a pittance compared to the amount Eastern manufactures will get.

We all know why the feds are avoiding a forestry bail out and it has a hell of a lot more to do with not wanting to piss off the US than not wanting to throw money at BC to gain support and that won't change if the coalition gains power. BC will come out a looser in this deal.

I fully agree, the west will be bent over once again, and MADE to accept it.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
They were plotting 4 weeks prior to this 'statement', now we all know that from the taped conference call that a Tory was invited to.

Look at it like a fire. You need oxygen, fuel, and ignition to light a fire. If any one of the three is missing, you get squat. Now here, the fuel may be a desire for power in the NDP, and the oxygen the agreement between the NDP and Bloc, but you still need that spark - that incendiary piece of legislation that you can make a case on and bring down the government over - to light the fire of coalition. Harper gave them that spark. And that's assuming the nefarious intent you ascribe to the NDP, which I don't concede.
