I disagree and for the life of me the name of the movie I'm thinking of wont come to mind. She's some street punk who kills someone, gets sentenced to death. Fake execution and she is recruited and trained to be an assign. At the end rebels and refuses to kill someone. Now that was a great movie, female lead that learned to kick ass then did. But I can think of the name of the movie. Also I think there has been at least one remake.

"La Femme Nikita"

But you might remember it as a TV show called 'Nikita'.

Strong and confident women scare you guys, don't they?

No. Reimagining our culture into a black is white perversion scares me.

And there's that other one by the same guy where the young girl gets saved by the dumb hit man and she wants to be one. She's walking around with his plant at the end.

Come to think of it there's this book series by David Baldacci I like. It concerns this hit man operative named Will Robie. He takes up with a super-efficient woman in the same racket. So there's even precedent for the male/female hitman, buddy film trope in that one.

All of those are among my personal favorite cult classics.

Doesn't matter. I don't accept a woman 007 with a license to kill as my new hero. I doubt Ian Fleming would either.

BRAH BRAH:
So in all of Merry Old England there wasn't a more attractive, talented black actress to take on the role of 007?

...and we're stuck with you.

So what's your point?

I can understand the female thing as 007 IS typed as male, but why black? Are there no Black officers of the Crown? Strange!

Will Kane from High noon is a personal hero of mine.

That bothers you, does it?

Almost forgot! "La Femme Nikita" was a French movie. It was done in English as "Point of No Return".

Didn't care for the American remake. Loved the original. Was she in too deep for redemption and all that.

Do you remember that scene from one of the classic Bonds (it may have been in more than one) where he's unzipping the girl's dress and wryly commenting "What I won't do for Queen and country."

That's what's missing with a female 007 licensed to kill. It's more, "Woo hoo. Look at me. I'm a woman but I can legally kill people too."

Doesn’t bother me, I just find it funny.
As far as it goes, it’s just entertainment. The guy who makes the fresh buttered popcorn at the Broadway theatre is more of a hero than some dude on the screen for one and a half hours. Unless one lives in a fantasy world ( oh wait :P )

Well, I find it funny that you find it funny, so there you go.

Culture can contain the guideposts of what a society finds righteous.
