This Coke campaign is harmless. If I want to see some real dangerous malice on display I'll check out the regular fashion ads, that are almost entirely created by the women and gay men that control the fashion industry. The Coke girls at least have some meat on them, compared to the Skeletor routine that the establishment fashion business keeps getting away with.

If I smoke pot, who's to blame, the pusher or me?

Public_Domain Public_Domain: raydan raydan: Public_Domain Public_Domain: My issue with the ads are mainly that it has nothing to do with milk and everything to do with turning men on and influencing women to meet impossibly idealic standards. Not equal to women not getting the right to vote? Okay agreed. Still think the ad is devoid of value, and we tear shit down for less. If this is turning men on, then the problem is with the men, not with the ad. If it's influencing women to meet impossibly idealic standards, then the problem is with the women, not with the ad. Edit: It's time we stop trying to deflect the blame for our shortcomings. We aren't in the business of rewiring minds yet, so maybe we can pull back and consider a far less difficult task like simply having Coca Cola advirtise Coca Cola. How do we have them do that? Pass laws?

Jabberwalker Jabberwalker: Truth is that Capitalism has constantly and steadily evolved over the last couple of hundred years and it is constantly re-invented. It's no longer Capitalist, anyway but a Capitalist-Socialist hybrid since the beginning of WWII. The Empire will not fall (until the oil ruins out for good, anyway). You're only mentioning 2 legs of the triad - forgot the oligarchy that's becoming stronger day by day. That's not capitalism as thought of by Adam Smith either - in fact he warned about it.

How do we have them do that? Pass laws? Might actually be a good idea. If we get them to pass a law saying that ads must only present the product and not mislead the consumer, then we also get rid of all political attack ads.

That is a return to feudalism and it is really anti-capitalism.

Public_Domain Public_Domain: Imagine, commercials that don't piss anyone off unless the product itaeld is offencive. Imagine... Businesses logically concentrate on the majority they know they can make happy rather than on the minority that are going to be dissatisfied all the time. Imagine a world where people concentrated on causes that were actually worthy, rather than a bunch of made up shit that's used to validate their craving for victim status.

All teenage girls need to be bulimic for my argument to have some validity? Jesus christ, what a tough crowd. The logic is simple, whether you decide to smoke pot or not, the choice is yours, not the pusher's. Like I said before, stop trying to blame others for your choices, good or bad.
