I don't think the settlement thing is a good idea either.

It may not be a good idea to force settlement but it is their land anyway. And it has been the most documented nation to have their land there.

I believe DD has said he is a Pakistani living in the UAE. In which case he is not an Arab. As to his closeness to other folks in the region, that varies from tribe to tribe so he may or may not be ethnically close to other people in the region.

True enough. It's about might, not right. Israel has the power to control, they are using that power. It's quite simple really, one wonders about all these endless explanations offered up in the weekend editorial pages or on this site for Israeli actions. They have the power to take what they want and that is precisely what they are doing. The Arab resistance is simply a small price to pay for their rather direct methods.

Israel is pathologically sensitive about its image though. I guess they feel the need to justify it somehow, so attacks by Hamas are convenient.

Well you can't call similarities between India and Pakistan with the Pal-Iz conflict. 1st everyone wanted independence from teh British 2nd) The people living there were not shipped in from Europe and all of them actually lived there for generations.
