He's a serving sailor in the Canadian Forces. I'll go with him being an expert over daffy duck prax.

Well good for him... he can still learn to take a damn joke.

And if you think a joke is somehow "expert" opinion, then I don't know what to tell you.

Care to move on now or did my little comment with an obvious winky icon to show it was a joke still stick like a thorn in some people's sides?

I doubt anybody has accused you of offering an expert opinion on this...

Some do. I appreciate your aspirations.

Don't like it? Move on and ignore it...

Yep. Some people sure are clueless as well.

Your self proclaimed forum experience seems to be lacking here. Permission is not required...

Pot this is kettle...

I'm not the one who had the issue with what I said, and I have no problem explaining what I said, over and over and over again if I need to.

And each and everytime, I'll point out how big a deal is being made over nothing.

Of course if you wish to continue this useless banter back and forth, then I guess neither of us will come out of this any better then the other, Mr. Kettle.

If I'm so clueless, why don't you fill me in?

Do people not get maimed and killed in wars anymore?

You've suddenly tried to change the parameters of your argument.

Doesn't work that way.

No, that was my argument all along. It's not my fault if you have a reading comprehension problem.

That was hardly your argument. It was:

"Do people know that people get maimed and killed in wars anymore?"

The answer is of course, yes.

Merely knowing that they're in combat doesn't mean everyone knows what that means.

You base that on what, exactly?

Based on the fact that nobody knows everything, and especially that nobody knows what every other living person knows or doesn't know.

Not everyone pays attention to the news all of the time, or sometimes even any of the time. There are probably a significant number of people who have no idea that over four thousand soldiers have been killed in Iraq. There is probably another significant number of people who don't realise that having a technologically advanced military doesn't make you invincible. It is not hard to conclude that those two groups contain many of the same people.

Drop the art, become a comedian...

I do both and more.... some people have the ability to multi-task.

Drop the one-liners of self-imposed expert opinion and actually move on with the debate with something productive.

Geez some people sure are anal.

I'll go with none of us being experts since, as far as I can tell, nobody here is either American or serving in the American military.

You're right, it ain't hard to jump to exceedingly foolish conclusions.

Stand down the gun's crew!

Are you absolutely sure that everyone knows that? Even people that don't pay attention to the news? I don't think you can rightfully say that you know what other people know or don't know, because that's impossible.

How is that foolish? You have yet to explain yourself. You call me foolish and clueless, but refuse to offer any sort of intelligent rebuttal. All you've got is sarcastic quips.

Exactly... What one knows and preaches on about the Canadian Forces does not equate to what is done in other nation's military... thus everybody who's posted so far isn't anymore of an expert then the next.

Story of my life so far here... rather then actually debating something logically or actually explaining why one doesn't agree with what was said, the crap flinging has to start and the trivializing of other members.

Then when it's tossed back in their face, they ignore their own hypocracy which created the situation in the first place and just focus on the fact that the person flinging it back is actually defending themselves from such ignorance.

Oh well. Such is life.

Are you basing your argument on a given percentage not knowing, or that if one does not know, your argument is valid.

Can you qualify and quantify?

Fact of the matter is, there are those who have far more information and experience on this topic than you. You refuse to acknowledge that, hiding behind the fact it's Canadian military vs American military. Demographics may have some differences here, but not much.

Whether you like it or not, serving members here have far more expertise in this than you, so get over yourself.
