One of the reasons for breast feeding is too expose your child to antibodies, that only breastmilk holds, to ward off viruses and diseases. dont you think it defeats the purpose to feed in a pool with bacteria floating around?

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
At most offices the safest place (in terms of exposure to disease) to eat your lunch typically IS the bathroom because it is the one place at your work that is constantly kept clean. The most hazardous places to eat are at your desk and in a break room because both places are subject to less stringent disinfection and sanitation procedures than are bathrooms.
I'm not sure what offices you've been in but the ones I've worked in and the high school I went to were cleaned once a day. The Principal even made an announcement at an assembly once telling certain people to stop eating lunch in the bathroom.

Like I asked others earlier in the thread, do you think your baby isn't swallowing that water wheter they're feeding or not?

Here's a fun experiment if you have the equipment to carry it out: expose a petri dish of growth agar in your office, another in your lunch room, and another in your bathroom at work and see which one incubates the most pathogens. It's a pretty reliable test for most places that the bathroom is cleanest followed by the lunch room.

And after the experiment you'll probably keep a can of Lysol at your desk like I do. 8O

This isn't about swimming it's about feeding your baby in that. It just seems strange to me. I think this woman is trying to make a point, especially if they only asked her to leave the water and not the general area. I could also eat my lunch in the bathroom but would I? Not likely.

Yeah but what about the smell and grunting? 8O 8O

As much as I wouldn't mind if some lady was walking or in this case sitting down with her breasts out. I got to call bs on this protest against the Public Swim Place. Public Swim Arenas are full of kids, and parents. Parents who if they saw some lady walking around with her tits out would see that as crossing boundries, expecially with there kids present. Breast feeding has never been seen that way, as it's just a mom taking care of her kid but it's basicly the same thing.

If you want to breast-feed your child in a resteraunt for example, that isn't the right place because not everybody is 'cool' with it. A public swimming arena is one of those places, expecially when you decide to do it in the water on the steps.

I am sure everybody is 'cool' with the idea of there kids swimming near a lady with her tits out, and having breast milk floating in the pool. The owner was just doing what she thought was right, and right for her buisness.

No. A pool is different because there are hygiene issues with the water, and regulations about food near the water, as I posted earlier. A woman is, however, free to breastfeed if she wants at a restaurant, or at a mall, or in a store, or in public. Whether you're "cool" with it or not is irrelevant.

The fungal crap and all is on the deck and in the changing room, not n the pool itself. They test the water daily to ensure there isn't anything in it.

Good point.

And to keep it clean, it is a good thing not to have babies being fed IN the pool. Although I don't think it is a good idea to go swim with leaking breasts either...

Been there, discussed that. We'll save some time and just say that you're completely wrong.

I am just going to say, in MY own oppinion I am right because when I got a public pool, I don't want mom's leaking breast milk all over the swimming water. There is already a chance of some kid pissing in the pool that you may swim in. We you are saying we have to endure some mom leaking her milk everywhere when she could just as easy just taken the kid in the locker room or some place else and done that?

Nope, this mom should have known her boundries. I got no problems with mom's breast feeding in public, or if she has to do in a public swimming place as long as she does it in a more private place. Why does she have to go into the water to start breast feeding? If that's her idea of swimming, she can go swim at home.

Ummmm no he isn't WRONG Ms. Lily everyone is entitled to an opinion. Despite provincial laws and your high handed BS everyone has the right to voice their opinion. There will always be people opposed to breast feeding in public and their views are equally important. I personally am not opposed to it just your BS decrees of right and wrong.

Excellent points Brenda. I also think someone breast feeding a 20 month old needs to give their head a shake.

His opinion is irrelevant to the point, nova. He doesn't have to think breastfeeding in a restaurant is "cool" but he can't be high-handed and say it's not the right place for it. It IS the right place for it... it's perfectly legal.

So in that sense, I can put my hand down my pants and start fiddling around with my johnson while everybody else is eating than start touching things? Hey, it's not illegal... It's just gross, but as long as it's not illegal who cares right?

I could have done it in the privacy of my own home, but I had a itch and when you got to itch... you just do it instead of wait. Free country.

Ever tried to take your lunch into a baseball game?

This is a private pool, breaking the rules is not going to garner any sympathy.

As previously said, pool water is a hostile environment when feeding a baby.
