The turnout in Brooks-Medicine Hat was absolutely deplorable, something the people down there deserve to be ashamed of. Apparently 66% were too lazy, disinterested, or assumed Smith was going to get a slam-dunk, so they didn't bother to show. So all they needed was another couple thousand, in a riding that has over 30000 eligible voters, to show up to vote against her to stop the UCP from turning Alberta into Freedumb Central. They could have made a major difference and changed the direction this province is heading towards. Sad beyond belief. :|

I can't believe the Walker/Warnock race is even tight. That just stumps me.

What are people really looking for in the people that represent them? Celebrity, or quality?

You might want to look into a mirror when asking that question. You elected a famous trust fund kid who had absolutely zero qualifications to be elected as a dog catcher (let alone higher office) to run your country. Then after all those allegations of groping (aka felonious sexual assault), corruption, and numerous photos of him wearing black face (and his own admission that he can't recall the exact number of times that he wore black face ) you RE-ELECTED the piece of shit to continue running your country!!! So it certainly looks the plurality of Canadians choose celebrity over quality.

If you knew anything about the Canadian electoral system, you'd know that nobody other than voters in the riding of Papineau have ever voted for Trudeau, the rest of us only vote for local candidates where we live.

And despite Trudeau's many mistakes, gaffes and scandals, his performance during the COVID pandemic more than made up for those other issues. Canada had about 48,000 deaths from COVID, while the US under Trump had over a million deaths. That's more than 20 times the deaths, despite the US only being nine times the size of Canada. Even the UK, as Thanos noted, had four times the deaths we had, despite only less than twice our population.

But if you want to compare Trudeau to Trump, fire away - I don't recall Trudeau ever barging in on underage girls at beauty pageants to sneak peeks, or recall him saying it's okay to sexually assault women, aka Trumps's famous "you can grab 'em by the pussy, you can do whatever you want" line. Or Trump praising white supremacists, making fun of disabled people, calling Mexicans "rapists and murderers", etc.

Same goes for the other GQP nutjobs who talk about 'Jewish space lasers', making women carry their rapist's babies to term, allowing kids to buy assault rifles, the cost of crudité, or any of the other bullshit we spent the last ten months hearing about before your mid-term elections.

Trudeau isn't all that great, but he's head and shoulders above the dozens of wackos your countrymen elected yesterday.

I figure if you want to find someone who's basically nothing but a crummy little celebrity worshipper who will literally forgive anything that their object of devotion does, no matter how criminal or outright evil it is, then you don't look at Trudeau voters. You go straight to the Trump supporters because they've openly given that rotten son of a bitch a pass on every shitty thing he's done over the course of his life. And they also intend to keep on giving that repellent fucker a free pass for the rest of his miserable days on this earth. That's something only rancid little starfuckers do, give their boy lifelong immunity, even when they sink as low as to steal national security documents to sell to God knows who because the vile puke genuinely believes "they're all mine anyway".

I'm puzzled as to exactly why Democrats are cheering today when the final vote counts clearly aren't finished. They're still going to lose the House at a minimum, and maybe even the Senate too depending on the results of the Georgia run-off next month. Trump and some of his hand-picked scumbags got embarrassed somewhat last night. But far too many of his turd candidates still won. So why are the Dems doing some sort of victory lap right now? At best the Senate is stalemated, but the House will be an absolute horror show going forward for the next two years.

There is nothing to celebrate. The danger remains. In fact there's nothing the Dems can do to get rid of Trump. That can only happen if the GOP chooses now to rally behind DeSantis instead and make it clear to the degenerate bastard of Mar A Lago that he's no longer wanted. And any movement inside the party that wants that will be fought against to the death by the soul-less pig-eyed shits like Taylor-Greene and these other putrid extremist filth who still have their tongues up Trump's ass right now.

Situation didn't improve. The threat is still there - it's only been temporarily stymied (at best), not permanently defeated. If anything, the status of the playing field is much worse than it was yesterday, even if the GQP didn't get their wave of wins. The Dems need to shut the fuck up ASAP about how "well" they did. They lost seats overall, to a pack of dangerous fucking lunatics at that, and that's the only real indicator they should be paying attention to right now.

I would propose that any media, interviews or interactions with said candidates needs to be highlighted as such. Just as the candidates now have a D or R under their name or shown as independent these candidates needs to be identified as election deniers or traitors. I'm fine with either.

I'm not a silver linings sort of person. Dems being happy today is like the French celebrating at Agincourt because they were able to loot the English baggage train even though their knights got wiped out in the mire by the longbowmen.

Dems winning is because the kids and women showed up to vote. See what student loan forgiveness get you? Gen Z star is rising and they are showing up at the polls. We need much more of this to put the Christian Nationalists to bed once and for all but for now a win is a win.

There are things to celebrate. They didn't lose as badly as predicted. The GOP clearly has two camps again, and division may keep them from being effective. Millennials have turned out in unexpected numbers. And if they lose the Senate, it may only be by a couple votes. That may be workable.

Boebert is in a statistical dead heat with Frisch, only 64 votes behind now. Like the old singer warned a long time ago, don't speak too soon for the wheel's still in spin. The times ain't a-changin', at least not yet. :|
