It should be a protected right of anyone, regardless of their physical/mental/emotional condition, to choose to leave when they want and how they want. With the kind if horrific world that is coming it'll become a radically popular action that more and more people will be wanting to take.
Would this be what you're hoping for?

They're both awful people.
Which to me is an endorsement.

More of this. No interference from fools and busybodies. No big emotional scene. Just a peaceful and efficient departure.

Behind all this are two trends, one good, one perhaps bad; a massive increase in people who live long enough to need nursing care; the decline of the extended family and the disappearance of women prepared to take care of these relatives. In the future, if we are not prepared to take care of Uncle Arthur ourselves, there will probably be several options: we can pay for somebody else to do it, we can leave him to die, we can kill him or we can get the robots to take care of him and eventually ease his passage from this vale of tears at a time of their choosing. No good solutions.
