That's a quote from Lemmy not me. :D

You shouldn't complain when someone credits you with being smarter than you really are. :P

You were given chances to do ligament debating on subject matters but chose to act like a child and throw insults. Why now, should we take anything you say as anything else but insults.

I thought you said you were smart. obviously you are not. The last two threads where you've engaged me in conversation it has not been to debate or exchange of ideas on your part. All that you have done is make snide remarks and or insults. Why then should I take anything you say as being more then that.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
As a follow-on to my initial post in this topic here's a story on the United Methodist Church that's also experiencing a mathematically fatal decline in membership:

http://goodnewsmag.org/2015/05/economis ... in-crisis/

(Excerpt)

$1:
“There is no question that our church is in trouble,” said the Rev. Thomas Lambrecht, vice president of Good News and an observer at the meeting. “What I fail to understand is why church leaders are not considering that the theological shift among many of our clergy in a more progressive direction could account for a significant part of the decline. The Connectional Table reveals a schizophrenic approach when it acknowledges our crisis of decline and at the same time proposes a ‘Third Way’ on marriage and homosexuality that will drive many traditionalists and evangelicals out of the UM Church. If their plan is adopted, it will only accelerate the decline of the U.S. church, as we learn from the experience of The Episcopal, Evangelical Lutheran, and Presbyterian Church (USA).”

Even a liberal UMC pastor has the ability to see the same obvious truth I see.

Basically the same reasons Liberal Churches have been in decline for a Century, they refuse to Dogmatically believe in things that are not evident or consistent with reality. IOW, they try to do the right thing, but many of their members prefer dogmatic adherence to ignorant ancients.

That's Lemmy's M.O.

He talks a big game, he knows everything, and if you disagree with his "expert" point of view on any topic, he'll insult you.

He's also lied repeatedly about his credentials, so don't expect anything more than what you've already seen.

I have to agree with sandorski on this one. The churches were too slow to adapt, and now it's too late. For 500 years you had to have a dick to preach to a congregation and almost everyone I know had left the old CoE I was raised in decades ago.
Went to my father's funeral service in the old place a few years back, a woman presided. Seated and welcome in the church were several of my and my sisters' friends who are gay.
Progress, far too late.
OF course the old Catholic Uncle was shocked. I jokingly told him not to worry, the preacher lady isn't a lesbian - I've met her husband... Uncle's still old school.
My sisters left the CoE and went evangelical. To with similar liberal congregations. they left because the CoE was too slow to adapt.
BOTH sides, not just the traditionals are leaving.

I always find myself going back to this from 1963.

Communist Goals (1963) Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963

Bits of it keep turning up in current reality.

I don't think I've ever seen as many accurate predictions as are among the 45 read into the congressional record in 1963 on the agenda for a Communist takeover.

Why does that matter here?

Here's # 27.

~27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."~

Even if that was part of a Communist Conspiracy, the Commies are gone. Liberalization of Churches began a long time before Communists did.

The Bible does a good enough job on it's own of discrediting itself. The inclusion of Revelations alone should be evidence aplenty that the entire thing is just a more feverish dream than usual. Except for the parts where Jesus said quit being dicks to each other the entire thing should be jettisoned. Biblical literalism: turning otherwise normal people into raging dickbags for nigh on 2000 years.
