That would make an interesting debate if it could ever be dealt with intelligently.

Which is more extreme? Tea Party Republicans, or Progressive Caucus Democrats?

that's a tough call, personally I think both drifted in response to the other.

Hmmm?

The Progressive Democratic Caucus was started by six acknowledged socialists in 1991.

The earliest attribution of the Tea Party is that it came out of the failed Ron Paul Presidential campaign of 2008.

The socialists were at it long before the Tea Party came along.

Maybe a better question then should be, which side has made things worse? All 6 members of the Progressive caucus or the 80 or so Tea party memebers?

The socialists currently have 71 declared members in their caucus with a total of 132 members of Congress (1 independent and 131 Democrats) attending their last conclave before the summer recess.

The Tea Party Caucus currently has only 49 members (all Republican). They have not held any meetings in the current session and in some circles this is attributed to interference from Speaker of the House Boehner (R).

By default the socialists win on your question for the simple fact that the Tea Party is effectively inactive in the current session.

I would disagree. The reason nothing gets done in the House anymore is because Speaker Boehner knows the Tea Partiers won't support anything.

I would disagree with that by saying things do get done in the House all the time. However, in the American system a Bill goes from House to the Senate. Currently Democrats run the Senate. They stop whatever the House Republicans pass. For example any number of budgets have been passed through the Republican House but are then ignored in the Senate. How many budgets have passed through the Democrat Senate since the Obama era began(keeping in mind they're supposed to pass one each year by law)?

Last I heard, only 15 bills had been passed by the current House and Senate. You're right that the House passes things all the time. Like 40 repeals of the ACA that are denied by the Democratic senate as you would expect.

Well Obamacare is a disaster. The guys who fought for it are now trying to get waivered out of it. Some are succeeding.

After pushing for it the unions are now crying 'We want out'. Apparently they don't mind people getting screwed, they just didn't know that was going to include them.

Congress got themselves waivered.

Obama is now pushing back full implementation until after the 2014 elections, because he doesn't want people to see the full scale fuck-up of the operation when it begins.

So yeah the House continues to try to stop the train wreck you prefer to call ACA. Good for them.

As to the 15 bills you say passed into law. I'm not going to doublecheck that. It wouldn't matter. That isn't what I said. I said the house passes lots of bills that get stopped by the Senate. That's true, and it's a lot more than 15. Whether you like them or not they exist, and the fact they pass the House illustrates the actual point we were discussing, which is tea party obstruction is not a problem creating an inactive house, because the House is active, and successful at passing bills through it.
