Ah yes...when someone doesn't agree, let's start with the insults.
Just because I, and the mother of the child, don't think charges should be laid doesn't mean we're out to lunch...it means that we see things unlike you and others that see things in black and white.
In your World: An assault is an assault. No matter how minor or major.
Verbally abusing someone by "calling them names" is still an assault.
Black and white. It's either an assault or it's not.
You're just not making any sense, is all. What do the actions of others at the game have to do with it? The police are presented with good evidence, which, on the face of it, appears to be an intentional use of force resulting in an injury. If that's the case, then assault charges should be filed, I think, because we're dealing with a figure of authority and we're dealing with an adult assaulting a child resulting in an injury. A guilty verdict would probably bar this person from coaching again, which would seem appropriate.
If the guy just slipped and it was all quite unintentional, then I don't think anything need be done. But judging by the fact that the police are recommending charges, they have determined in their minds that it was intentional.
If there were other assaults then the police can deal wiht them as they see fit. But regardless, it's not OK for a coach to do this.
