Unfortunately the pseudo-intellectual side of the celebrity left that was always more than willing to act as apologists for the likes of Russia is still around, about 30 long years now past their best-before date expiring. Waters freaking out that "all you're hearing is NATO propaganda" is typical of the tactics they've been using since the 1930's, when Walter Duranty of the New York Times put the blueprint together on how to most effectively deny that the Russian state (Soviet or post-Communist makes no different) has ever committed any sorts of crimes against humanity. Or that whatever actions the Russians engage in is "merely" a reaction to some sort of imaginary genocide the West has perpetrated or are planning to commit. It's an old, old game that's still going on today and these types will always be around no matter how much evidence of Russian depravity & murderousness exists.
Roger Waters, Noam Chomsky, Oliver Stone, and a bunch of hoary old others who should have fucked off a long time ago are merely serving a servant's purpose. They're today's Walter Duranty's, doing the job for Russia. It sort of shows how decrepit Russia has become in that they have to rely on these rotten old bastards to do the work for them simply because, for the most part, the younger generations of the last several decades haven't shown much interest in being the water-carriers for murdering rabid mongrels like today's Russian government & military. At least the MAGA sickos only defend Russia out of perfectly understandable greed, Or, like the catamites they are in their wretched hearts, to curry favour with Putin's bitches in the Trump crime family. These old leftist perverts are doing it because today they still believe, as much as they believed it in their youth, in the same disgusting crap that went obsolete on them by the late 1980's. A lot of them still haven't recovered from the shock of the Soviet collapse so apparently in their latter years going to bat for today's Kremlin gives them some sort of reason to keep going.
