Actions speak louder than words and the way they crushed the anti Ahmadinejad protests after the last election spoke volumes. The Popes talk a good game too about human suffering.

The Saudis do everything by proxy. Wiki is not always your friend.

Where have I ever said that the Saudis are our friends and allies? I've said that they are our enemies, and I've even advocated taking those evil bastards out. Pick your arguments more carefully.

Pick your arguments more carefully. You didn't, I was simply pointing out how the US treats them but somehow treats Iran like the scum of the earth. Big difference in treatment considering one is an absolute monarchy and the other is an (albeit corrupt) democracy.

Only is the town bike loosest term could you ever refer to Iran as a 'democracy'. It takes more than rigged elections to make a country a democracy.

And perhaps getting rid of the corruption is something they could eventually get if the US worked with them over time instead of working against them and fortifying the hold of the corrupt ones. Take away the reason for the corrupt to have their power and eventually they won't be able to change enough ballots.

You haven't traveled much outside of Canada have you. Except for a few nations, corruption is endemic. Most people not only tolerate it, but they expect there to be a certain amount of graft and corruption.

I am well aware corruption is common, the difference is that for Iran instead of being able to get away with blatant large scale corruption causing protests it would be on a smaller scale, hopefully even getting rid of ahmenumbnuts.

Not really sure that would change. The US is supposedly a nice, free, democratic nation that doesn't have someone meddling in its affairs and the corruption running rampant there not only raped the country, it did a good number on the global economy too. What the real shock to me is, it's happened on the watch of both left AND right.

I'm talking more about a good chunk of the west working just on getting on their good side instead of pissing them off. Make deals that are basically only beneficial to Iran like helping them build more nuclear power stations, and help with enrichment (this would allow you to monitor the total production). Honestly I think Ahmenumbnuts is on the way out after the latest sanctions, and if we get really lucky, we will have a chance to make a friend out of Iran instead of an enemy. All you need is one government that wants reform.
