If you're calling the army in, we aren't going to argue with them. Our job is to destroy the enemy. We will capture them if they surrender. Otherwise, targets up.

Saying that, it is SOP to factor in the risk of personal injury and collateral damage before engaging a target, considering it's strategic value of course. They made the right call.
