Lemmy Lemmy: You should use one of these for a hat:
They hold their form better than aluminium foil over cardboard and the crimped edges are great. They prevent the edges from tearing when you attach the skate-lace for the chin-strap. A aluminium Chinese food take-out dish works also. Tin foil! TIN, not Aluminum! That's the problem. Aluminum won't block the rays!

QBC QBC:
Oh, the professional protesters have found another cause have they? They're not making headlines anymore chaining themselves to trees in BC so they had to find something else and this is the best they came up with? Must have been a slow news day when they had their executive meeting at Starbucks in Surrey. Protesters chaining themselves to trees in BC's War in the Woods back in the 90's saved some of the most beuatiful and pristine wilderness on the island from yet another massive unsightly clearcut - and being a sailor I've seen a lot of them that the public won't see. I should think an avid outdoorsman such as yourself would at the very least, appreciate that. Sometimes the professional protestors are a pain, but sometimes they get it right.

You don't really belong on this forum if you're going to make balanced posts like that. No fair introducing color into the black and white world of others. The shock is likely to kill him.

I also don't need a cheerleader. QBC makes many balanced and fair posts as well as some very thoughtful ones. I'm simply using my experience to point out what I think might not be a fair and balanced one in this case.

This probably has more to do with the fact that Don says this on CBC. If he was on TSN or Sportsnet the protestors probably wouldn't even care. But the CBC is supposed to be 'their' network and theirs alone. I'm not sure how much longer CBC will keep Don around but if they got rid of him it wouldn't be the first time (or the last either) that they eliminated an employee, program, or program segment, that deviated from the solid leftist/Liberal ground that the CBC has always claimed as it's turf.

Zipperfish Zipperfish: I don't think Don Cherry is promoting the war by sticking up pictures of fallen soldiers. I agree, too many of the anti war crowd seem to forget that you can support the troops without supporting the war, I for one think Cherry's tributes are moving and heartfelt and thank him for them

$1: I never liked those stickers, people think it implies that soldiers will attack them if they do not support them. When really the best way to stop a Canadian solider is to have a line of unarmed civilians stand in front of them.
Really, I always took it as, they are getting shot at because their country asked them to, what are you doing for your country kina message

Unsound Unsound: I just don't understand why these people think that a protest like this would make any difference. Besides the fact that it just pisses people off instead of changing their minds about anything, Cherry is a supporter of the troops, not neccesarily of the politics of the war. As far as I know he's not openly stated his opinion of the war itself, just his support of those who've been oredered to fight it. I'd like to know why they waited until just before our troops are getting out.
