First of all I'm addressing the character of Jesus and the supposed things he said. I in no way believe the new testament was written by Jesus and it's total crap to claim that. The Earliest writings found were mere snippets of the book of John and that was quite a while after 30 C.E. where it's implied Christ died.
Wow your arrogance on how you assume I was raised and why I think the things I think is frankly mind blowing stupidity. Seriously. Your so off base it's not even funny.
I was raised in a united church which does not take the bible as any literal historic fact. You have no grounds whatsoever to make any presumptions about my upbringing and doing otherwise makes you look like an asshole.

 CanadianJeff without checking what he posted earlier CanadianJeff without checking what he posted earlier: ]I in no way believe the new testament was written by Jesus and it's total crap to claim that. $1: well I'll leave you to see the consequences of Jesus words seeing as how he didn't condemn rape anywhere in the bible.
You know if one were to make 10 commandments wouldn't you think to put that in there? Sounds like you're saying he did.

The first statement is addressing the character and teachings of Jesus as attributed by the gospels and the second is a direct question to the reading individual. I apologize if you didn't get that. But hey you are actually trying to address my arguments for a change with the insults so I'm glad we have at least made a step in that direction.

Islam is a license to rape your 13-year-old wife? Can't wait to see this used as a defense in a criminal proceeding sometime soon.

Well if you are married to a 13 year old it's because her parents gave consent, but she herself is unable to consent legally.
Thus it doesn't per say matter if the girl says no. As legally it doesn't matter one way or the other and you have consent already. From her parents.
I can see it working in a bunch of places.
Custody = Ownership = Marriage

I just read in the news today that in the UAE, a man can legally hit his wife and kids as long as he doesn't leave marks. Or evidence, rather...

Except the Koran.

CanadianJeff CanadianJeff: I was raised in a united church Ok, now I understand your attitude. The last house I bought was beside a church. I thought to myself, "Well at least I know I'll have decent neighbours on one side of me". Dude, the minister and several of the congregation were some of the BIGGEST assholes I've ever had to deal with, and it was a United Church. Even wrote a formal letter of complaint to the United Church of Canada's leadership, NO reply. I used to call the minister the Tin Man But it's good to know where your hatred, or at the very least, utter disdain for Christianity comes from. And I don't mean that sarcastically. As an aside, I'm also not claiming that all Uniteds are assholes. The caretaker of the church who was also a member did his best to try and act as some sort of intermediary between the minister and myself. In the winter time, I used to let him blow the snow from the church parking into my backyard because he had NO place to put it without loading into the back of his pick-up and hauling it away. And in return, he very generously did my my driveway too. Which was really nice because I seriously had more parking than the church did

Agudah Jews act on that part of an old Talmud and they are hated and reviled by other Jews for doing so. I don't see that as a condemnation of Jews because the majority of Jews condemn this but vocally and, in New York State right now, legally. Edit: Interesting that you cite this as S. 54b is big with the crowd that likes the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". At the same time there are still problems with child brides in most muslim countries. Granted, there is progress, such as in the UAE where the marriageable age is now 17. But you are fighting the traditionalists who still insist on 13 year old child brides. This is an issue in Canada: http://barenakedislam.wordpress.com/201 ... -syndrome/

The topic is one of the reasons that people from the middle east will have difficulty in North American and Western European society.

We don't get much snow here, but when it did snow, me and the other neighbours took it upon ourselves to shovel the church sidewalks off so the old folks could get to church. I figure, as an agnostic, I'll need all the points I can get if I run into St Peter after I expire.

That's why I was so shocked Zip. When I used to go to church, there was a United Church on the same block. Both churches even had a Dutch minister Ours was a concentration camp survivor(A whole other story there ) Well, every so often if one of the minister's was ill or on vacation, we'd join together for service as one big congregation. We were Presbyterian btw. At Christmas time, everyone went to one church for the Christmas Eve service and the other church for Christmas Day service. Then again, the flock will tend to act like the minister and both of ours were very kind-hearted gentlemen.
