CanadianJeff CanadianJeff:
And yet again when it comes to Jesus saying anything that could be taken to be unloving there is bound to be disagreement.

Jesus very clearly taught and lived with the belief that the end days were coming VERY soon. He told his disciples after his resurrection that some of them may not taste death before his return. Matthew 16:28.

It may very well be that Jesus was saying that no matter what it is better to live without eyes if gazing on a woman tempts you or to live without hands if stealing is tempting to you. It is better to live crippled and get to Heaven then to live whole and end up in hell for Jesus.

Jesus taught and lived with the very clear indication he thought the second coming our come very soon. This teaching fits perfectly with what Jesus believed.

I know you have heard this a million times likely when you say it to others but you are trying to take it out of context to fit a preset assumption that Yahweh and Jesus are loving beings.

edit: This is of course only one example. I could go on but I do respect the fact that you choose to disagree.

A loving God that accepts Slavery and Genocide as Moral? Don't make me puke.

whoa hey hey now God doesn't necessarily accept Slavery and Genocide he just sets the rules for it according to the bible. God only sets the rules out there for these actions it doesn't mean he condones them he just makes laws...

.....humans however have chosen to reject the ideas of slavery and genocide entirely. :P I'll let you draw your own conclusions about what's going on there.

Fail. No Condemnation is tacit acceptance.

God itself Commands Genocide at one point, then condemns Israel for failing to follow through on it.

Then there's the Flood where it decides to do its' own dirty work.

"Loving" God not found.

Ya, little proof of a loving God in reality or in the bible.

You have to remember that God is a couple thousand years old and was originally created in a time where a loving *and* omnipotent god was laughable and the phrase "works in mysterious ways" had yet to be coined.

The Greeks had a loving god, he got away with not helping people because he was chained to rock having his liver eaten out.

But repeating the line over and over sells religious merchandise and fills the collection plate.

Sometimes you have to compromise and preach what people want and/or expect to hear.

Or maybe you just have to move with the times?

I don't deny that at all. I think you missed the point I was making but whatever. :)

What always got me was that couldn't god just cause all the evil people on the earth to go "poof" and just vanish rather then flood the place? Doesn't seem so Omnipotent to me that you have to use the long way around.

I appreciate what the pastor is saying. Yoga is as much a religious practice as it is an exercise regimen. In a way, it's respectful of the faiths for whom yoga is a religious practice for people not to cheapen that faith by reducing yoga to something you do when you get done with the triceps machine at the gym.

It's akin to some trendy putz telling people to pull out a rug and bow down five times a day as a form of exercise while saying that such a thing has nothing to do with the practice of Islam.

If you want to practice yoga the pastor is not saying not to. What he's saying is that if you want to be a Christian then muddling your faith with other religious practices is not a good idea. Besides, he's not saying anything that the Muslims haven't already said. If it's okay for them to define their faith then it's okay for Christians to do the same.

And yet when ppl point out when God made the world stop spinning(according to the Bible) they say it's impossible, physics doesn't allow for that. I'm quite sure if the flood story was instead a "people just disappearing into thin air" story, you'd still be saying it's bollocks anyway.

Yeah but it would be a far more moral god that I wouldn't believe in.

He'd certainly make a better case for being a "moral" god. As it stands the word Moral as well as the word Ethical do not appear even once in the book.

What we call 'Christianity' wouldn't be recognizable to Christ or his followers. It's taken a whole whack of practices and beliefs from other religions over its two thousand years.

Yet another Right Wing Christian extremist whack job. I'm beginning to think these freaks are more dangerous than Al-Quaeda, because of all the lemmings that believe the drivel that come out of their pie-holes.

Muslim clerics have banned Muslims from practicing yoga in Egypt, Malaysia and Indonesia, citing similar concerns.
Now, which "Christian" nation has banned yoga again???

And so far, the only other idiots of note that have echoed the same sentiment are Pat Robertson and John MacArthur. Neither of which has any credibility outside of with the lunatic fringe that follows them.

But thanks for stopping by and showing us your complete lack of objectivity.
We'll be sending you the home version of our game. Thanks for playing [B-o]

I did read the article douche-bag. My point was the Christian Extremist are just as dangerous as the Muslim Extremists

No, your point was, you think the christian fundy whackjobs are even more dangerous than the muslim fundy whackjobs. You said so yourself.

Tell ya what, I'll give your sentiment some credence if and when some Southern Baptist(s) goes on a murder spree to kill Christians that participate in yoga.

I will give you this much, even though I'm a Christian, the LAST thing I want to see is Canada or the US run by a theocracy.

Yoga is not a religious practice.
