I also like the part where both the police and the original story never bothered to mention things like how apparent late night 'accidents' have been staged by thugs in order to lure in good Samaritans so they can be beaten up and have their vehicles stolen. I know for a fact that this has happened at least a few times (most out in the boonies) in Alberta over the last few years. It pays to be cautious, especially in the dark.

But stuff like that doesn't make good press that the local media can sell nationwide. Way to go boys, making the same city that you clowns also live look bad just so you can generate some more money for Quebecor Media. Idiots.

Thanos Thanos:
Go figure, it wasn't anywhere near as cut-n-dried as the original story suggested. The police spokesman over-reacted and the shitty local media ran with a 'story' that barely qualifies as a half-truth. Here's an update.

Ten bucks says that none of the fuckers who pushed the original slander will apologize or do anything to correct themselves. Typical.

problem is that the sun is such a sensationalist rag to begin with. I particularily like the last bit in the update story

On Saturday night, as the rest of the country was viewing Calgary with contempt, Edmonton Sun photographer David Bloom came across a serious crash scene on the highway near Golden, B.C.

Two men had pulled over to help the victims.

Both men were Calgarians.

I think with Calgary though the rest of the country may be sick of hearing about us, it's been Alberta Boom and Desirable Calgary for so many years now that they actually want to hear the bad, sad really as most of the accidents I've had occasion to drive by there were plenty of civilians assisting on scene.

I'm not sure if you all remember me talking about a motorcycle vs semi accident 2 octobers ago, but there were plenty of good natured willing to help people all around.

Consider that a large part of calgarians are from other parts of Canada...its quite unreasonable to cast general assertions their way. We are no different than any other city

[B-o] Out of my whole circle about 1/3 of them were born and raised here, I myself wasn't, though after 16 years think I can call myself a Calgarian
