This lawsuit has noting to do with the nanny state. The suit is not against the govt, but the tobacco companies that were marketing to minors and adding extra nicotine to their product to make it more addictive. It's like if pot was legalized, but with some heroin added and packaged in ways attractive to teens.

Tobacco and pot should both be legal. Both should be regulated and come with warnings. Since tobacco is such a harmful product it should be sold in liquor stores only, same way pot would be sold if it was legal. None of this would prevent kids from accessing this stuff, but right now kids find it easier to buy pot than liquor - if legalization undercut the black market, they would find it a lot harder to get.

Why don't you just give your government the right to control your entire life?
Then it would, from your words, be a Utopia? A perfect government State?
What about personal control of ones life?

OK, your sarcasm convinced me. The heck with govt regulations - lets just make all drugs legal with no regulations what so ever. Let the users take control of their personal lives.

Another regulation I have a problem with is this stupid idea about only driving on the right side of the road. Dammit, we should be able to drive wherever we damn well choose.

I've been doing just that for years. After all, I pay taxes on both sides of the roads!

Didn't that funny little man with the narrow broom say in Mein Kampf, something about the people not being able to make their own decisions?

No, here people made decision, the worsest thing is that they liked it, i mean his decision. One man can't change anything, his supporters and ideas are changing.

I thought Bush was "The Decider." Didn't he mean that to apply at least to all 'Mericuns?

Understand the comedian part of your reference. But, how in the wide, wide world of sports did Bush get into this discussion.
Now if this is somehow a play on words?
Rather skirts the point, don't you think? Or is this one of those little time and no thought responses?

Well it started with this:
$1:
Didn't that funny little man with the narrow broom say in Mein Kampf, something about the people not being able to make their own decisions?
You do know about the forum rule that the first person to invoke Hitler loses the argument, don't you? Especially to jump from whatever regulations once thinks are reasonable or not for cigarettes to Nazi Germany.

andyt states this as a fact;

Discussion or argument? In my experience do a lot of wandering and straying from the topic. It is just the nature of peoples logic or lack there of.

Where and how did Bush get involved? Why? And where did Mericuns crawl from?

Win? Lose? Seldom happens? Both sides are convinced they are right. Each side usually walks away patting themselves on their collective backs and believeing themselves to have convinced the other. Or to have proven the other wrong.

WIN? LOSE? Never.

Noooo. 'break dancing' got it's start when a Peurto Rican tried to steal a hubcap off a moving car!

Well on the topic of the cigarettes I'd love to see the Canadian government launch a massive lawsuit against all tobacco and fast food joints for all the billions of dollars they have cost our health-care.

If I have to pay on my taxes for someone to be cured of cancer or have access to a hospice while dying because some stupid company decided to get rich selling poison to people they target to become addicts then I'd love to pay a little more to hire some good lawyers to get it all back. People lives are just toys to these companies and it's costing us all as taxpayers to have such a huge loss of life each year. If your going to try and kill Canadians by getting them addicted to poison then it's time we encouraged our MPS to fight back and sue them good. :)

At least that's my opinion. Honestly I think the same thing about fast food as well. It's designed to get you addicted and all the fat and oils are just as deadly as cigarettes in the long run.

That's a good argument for a privatized health care system, right there. And the government would have to sue itself--they make more money than anyone off the smokes.

By your logic people who live past 85 should be forced to take up smoking--after all, why should my taxes pay for people to hang around after they are no longer productive and have lived past the average age?
