Tearing it down and replacing it? Decent prank I guess.

Doing it AFTER you beat us at hockey, gloating about it, AND burying our flag under rocks?

Really?

Really?

Slow down now. As you can see, most, if not all here thought the prank was funny UNTIL the destruction of the US flag.
And I'm sure most, if not all here wouldn't do that to the US flag even if it was on OUR soil. Ok, maybe pull the ol' switcheroo but we'd make sure your flag was properly looked after in the process.

A couple of stupid wankers doth not a nation's attitude make

Oh yeah, I know, I'm not that ignorant to generalize like that, but come on, that's just fucked up what they did. Destroying flags is somewhere people shouldn't go.

Including this American.

Like I said, I might have done it myself...but thinking about it I would have taken the cheap-sh*t Wal Mart (and Chinese made, no doubt) US flag and replaced with a proper, all-weather American-made US flag.

Oh, for sure! But I meant to say that I'd leave a better US flag behind for the flagpole owner to use when they took down my Maple Leaf.

You know, I don't know if I've posted this or not but I fly a number of flags in front of my house during the year:

In March I fly an Irish flag for St. Patrick's Day.

In October I fly a German state flag for Oktoberfest.

And as of last year (and this year, too) on July 1 I fly a Maple Leaf for Canada Day.

I also fly a number of historic US flags throughout the year, my personal favorite being the 'Grand Union Flag' because it tweaks the ignorant who don't know that it is an early US flag.

I fly the Canadian flag at all times.

Last week a wind gust tore it off the pole and it disappeared over the hill, so I raised the Jolly Roger.

It pisses me off when people say shit like the above quote. Who the hell is ashamed to be canadian because of what a couple of jack asses did? That is just stupid.

Exactly, what those two did was stupid. However stupid pranks by two inbred Canadians doesn't reflect anything on the rest of our country.

Personally, I don't think this 'incident' warranted the press it got, nor do the 'perpetrators' deserve any kind of punishment. If anything, it just proves that Americans can't seem to take any kind of joke whatsoever.

And if we were to reverse the situation, you would probably be among those screaming the loudest for their hides.

Stupid, moronic incidents like this do require a punishment so as to discourage others. Community service would probably be best for this.

Well put. Community service would probably be the best punishment.

I was once in a position to raise the Mexican flag over the Alamo

Good thing you didn't do that.

$1:
Texas Judge: Why exactly did you shoot the young man eighty times?

Texan: He raised a Mexican flag over the Alamo.

Texas Judge: Yes, but why did you shoot him eighty times?

Texan: Because I ran out of ammunition.

Texas Judge: Well, I can forgive that. Next time, make sure you have more ammo, y'hear now?

I know that I have a somewhat suicidal sense of humour. I'd like to raise the American flag over Okinawa and Iwo Jima, but I doubt that the Japanese
would be as amused and my day ( A pacific WWII veteran) would be.

I could sneak over to the UN and raise the Imperial Iranian Flag in place of the Islamic one.

Don Imus swiped the Soviet flag from there when the Russians shot down a civilian airliner.

Fortunately age wisdom and the desire not to get get shot at has calmed me down.

Around 1992/1993 I cut down the UN flag in a park in Carmel, California. Walked over and handed it to a cop who was watching me and he said thank you and told me to have a good day.
