I for one would prefer someone who is beautiful (or handsome, as the case my be), graceful and generally likeable to fill the position, as it doesn't hurt to have a bit of glamour and prestige in Ottawa for a change. It's not bad publicity for Canada as a country either, when the person who represents us abroad is well-spoken and easy on the eyes. This is mainly why I like Michaëlle Jean. Non-Canadians see her and think 'Wow, I never pictured Canada like that before!'

The article says he's looking for somebody end of career, who won't be distracted by his or her "own projects". There was also the implication he preferred a Conservative. They also said not a CBC broadcaster.

Canadian Patriot Don Cherry meets all the requirements, but the last one. But I think they're referring to a News broadcaster, so I still think Grapes would fit.

While it would definitely be interesting to see Grapes as the GG, it will never happen in my lifetime. Certain elements in this country can't even stomach the idea of him recieving the Order of Canada, the would loose their minds if he was even mentioned for, let alone accept, the nomination!
