martin14 martin14:

I went to high school BEFORE they put vending machines into schools.

There was an independent convenience store on the corner, a Macs down the street.

And my draconian mother made me brown-bag my lunch.
Man I was so deprived.

While getting the machines out is ok, it actually won't change much..

They'll, at least, burn a few calories going to buy junkfood across the street.

martin14 martin14:
funny guy with rant about food, not thinking for 5 seconds
and realizing if the kids can go across the street to buy their junk food,
they can do the same for a smoke as well.

I know, let's lock the kids in school for 8 hours a day.
That'll fix 'em.

No, I anticipated that response and I don't think that's a joke at all. If I were making the rules, the kids WOULD have to stay inside the building for the entire day. If they want a cigarette or grease-ball burger, they'd have to wait until
3:30pm to get it. Then their behaviours are their parents' responsibility, not the school system's.

martin14 martin14:

When whatever idiot decided to put the vending machines inside schools,
they already acknowledged they don't give a shit about students,
just money.

Instead, stop thinking school board.. start thinking PARENTS.

Well, that may be true to some degree, but I think it was more of a convenience-thing than a conspiracy to separate teenagers from their money. It wasn't an issue 25 years ago when I was a highschool kid because we weren't all fat. We were active.

I NEVER had any money in my pockets when I went to high-school.

Maybe that's the problem today.

I had a vehicle and a girlfriend.....that's why I was broke most of the time. Got rid of the girlfriend and I was able to put a stereo in the truck. Even today I miss her. She was loyal, got me things I wanted , took me to wonderful places.........the girlfriend was a frigid cock tease.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Yeah, I have to walk 3 blocks to get to the Mac's, brutal in winter.

Pick up 5 Pomegranate Rockstars and head back to school.

Enjoy that while you can, because odds are someday ingesting mega doses of sugary calories like that will either give you diabetes and/or make you overweight.

As long as they are active, theres no danger of becoming overweight or type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, the dietary habits we pick up as a teenager tend to linger as we enter a more sedentary adulthood.

Eh, the inclusion of my ex there probably helped with the suckage. The Anderson building sucked, but the teachers I had were pretty awesome.

Oh yeah? Hmm, I think I would have preferred shitty teachers, and asbestos free facilities (they were cleaning out the ceilings and walls during my last semester there)

Oh wow. Yeah my last year I left and went to a private school in Ajax, parents had enough of the shit there. After we got the head of the Math department fired they figured it was a good time to leave.
