How about don't run a red light? Then you won't have to worry about fines.

How about every time you do something remotely wrong with your vehicle, you send a cheque to the government? Paying fines is only a minimum requirement, you can always send more if you feel its necessary.

How about, "no". How about we go through the actual legal process first? How about we lose the hyperbole?[/quote]

How about you voluntarily turn yourself in, and request full legal process every time you do something remotely wrong with you vehicle? Heck, why don't you take pictures of your car after you have broken the law, then send it in with a cheque? it would save everyone some time and money, and your consiounce and perfect driving record could remain intact.

BTW, how do I get an automatic spell checker on IE like I have with Firefox?

How about we go with "no" again, but nice fallacious logic. I believe in due process and legal procedures, but evidently you can't afford the fines, so don't do the crime.

My conscious is fine...my record isn't, but i'm not about to whine about the raising of fines for serious traffic infractions.

I have no idea - just don't spell words incorrectly.

Well, Ontario could have gone with a hard tax grab and hired more police to sit at traffic lights. But quite frankly, I don't see why I should pay for someone else's lousy driving, I already get screwed for that with car insurance thank you very much.
Trust me, I truly hate Dalton and his Liberal gang, but a good idea is a good idea, no matter who comes up with it.
One of the test ones they installed in Cambridge was at an intersection with 2 plazas and a high school on 3 of the 4 corners. The main road had a speed limit of 60kph but most people on that road considered that to be only the suggested speed limit. 80 seemed to be the norm.
I like the system cuz it's the idiot drivers out there that will be paying for it, instead of us paying more taxes to have more cops watching for bad drivers when they could be going after serious criminals instead.

If they did that here in BC, I know a Traffic Light where they could fix the Deficit. I wouldn't care either even if it is a "Tax Grab".

Well, I think bigger fines are better than higher taxes, in my opinion. You make a choice to run a light, speed, illegally park, whatever, even though they're all technically against the law. You probably won't go to jail, but you should know, AND accept the consequences of your actions if you screw up.

In the end, Jim Carrey sums it up nicely.

I don't have a problem with this, just as I have no problem with "sin taxes". Don't want to be fined, don't speed, or run red lights. don't want to pay "sin taxes", then don't buy smokes or booze.

Pretty easy. 8)

It is one thing to support a law and support the fine that enforces it. It's another thing to be in denial of the reason why the law was created.

For example, I like seat belt laws, and seat belt fines. If I was in denial, I'd go on about how the seatbelt laws are designed to protect us, and it has nothing to do with protecting insurance company's profits.

I do have a heavy foot I admit but I do not run stop lights.Rarely drink anymore and only buy smokes from the reserve so raise the fine and sin taxes all You like.

Not in denial of why the fines were increased. Don't like the cost of speeding, don't speed. If you do speed and are caught, don't whine about it.

Hows the weather up there on your high horses? Cloudy? Sunny?. I do remember here in Edmonton the last time they made the big raise of fines, almost everyone then started fighting them and it backedup the courts up to a year. The last ticket i got , fought it of course (and won, wooho, following to close, ha give me a break) the trial was booked for 11 months from the date i went to say "not guilty" lol. Thanks raised fines you just helped me win my case.
