This guy should never have been let out but there were a number of steps between his first spate of crimes and this last one. A number of folks let him go.

My frustration is that we always hear how evil the US is for having these big prisons when they clearly should have been one crook larger.

itsanalias itsanalias:
I'd say the bail bondsman, judge and prosecutor in Washington state that recently released him after he was charged for multiple offenses are more to blame than something Huckabee did 10 years ago.

If Huckabee hadn't let him walk, there wouldn't have been a bondsman or WA judges to blame in the first place.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
If this had been a Democratic Governor Fox news and the American right would have been all over this.

Huckabee should be held accountable for his decision. Political partisanship should be left out of this.
If Huckabee made a decision to commute/early release this guy he needs to justify why.

*Cough* They have been. Most right wing blogs, on top of the few radio shows I've listened to have been pounding on Huckabee over what happened.

Give it up Brenda.

$1:
His criminal history included at least five felony convictions in Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington, according to The Seattle Times. He had a lengthy prison sentence commuted in 2000 by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who cited Clemmons' youth.

Rhonda Sharp, a spokeswoman for the Arkansas Parole Board, said then-Gov. Huckabee commuted Clemmons' 108-year prison term to a sentence of 47 years, five months and 19 days.

"[Huckabee's commutation] made him eligible for parole at that point," Sharp told FoxNews.com on Monday.

Clemmons later violated his parole and was returned to prison until his release in 2004.

I'm saying that some people are rushing to Huckabees defence because of their political partisanship. Some times these things can't be divided into left vs right.

Did you watch the video or read the article I posted?
I definately question if you would be centering on Huckabee if he was a Democrat.

ROTFL ROTFL
Yes, I watched the video, and I already said I do not give a fuck of what political colour this guy or any other guy (like the judges or the bondsman) are.

Like EB said: sometimes these things cant be divided into left vs right.

I seem to have been caught off guard by your sudden "hang-em-high" opinions.

I can see some teenagers sentance being reduced from life in prison so he could be eventually get out but once the guy went back to crime, he was put back in jail. I can't see you objecting to this.

If the teenager's first crime was a murder, capital punishment would have stopped him from committing crimes in the future too.

So you think that from going from a 95 year long prison term to freedom after what, 11 years of prison was a good idea? He was all of a sudden eligable for parole, he broke the rules. He got no counseling, nothing, so wtf did you expect? Did you expect him to be a model citizen? He got jailed again, and freed AGAIN by those stupid judges. Now 4 innocent people are dead, a 12 yo girl raped, just because Huckabee AND those judges didn't have a clue.

Of course Huckabee says: If I had known then what I know now, I never would have. Hello, newsflash, THAT IS YOUR DAMNED JOB! If you can't do that, don't release people. Not that hard, is it?

What does that have to do with anything? I didn't miss that, I don't give a damn. It wasn't. He got sentenced. To life in jail.

I guess you missed that.

Exactly. The only thing that matters here is dumping it all on Huckabee.

I'm not carrying water for the guy but those 2 judges who set the low bail value on this guy, along with all the paroll folks before this deserve more blame because by then, it was very obvious that this guy was a danger.

Don't agree. The deserve as much blame. I don't think I dumped it all on Huckabee, did I?

I think they could do shifts at Walmart.

(why are you defending Huckabee? Because he has your political colour? Sorry, but I do not give a damn about his colour... ANYONE who would have set this moron free would have gotten the same response from me. I thought it was clear that political affiliation is not important to me, nor is skin colour, sex or sexual orientation.)
