I say we leave them up. If push came to shove they would make good target practice.

They do.

In 2003 American troops entered several Iraqi towns and during the call to prayer the muezzin would announce that there were Americans entering the town and he'd issue a call to arms. Which instantly made the mosque a valid target...with predictable results.

It's all arse about face. We have people telling us how Mosques are holy but in the next breath they can't say 'Merry Christmas' because it's not non-secular?

Excuse me for correcting your exquisitely crafted narrative.

The Muslims are predictably crying "UNFAIR!!!" over the results of the vote:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1259598 ... sNewsThird

Yet I don't hear them saying how they're going to open up THEIR countries to other religions.

Really, I'd be miffed about this if the Muzzies allowed new churches and etc. in their lands except that they don't. In the lands where churches and etc. have ancestral (dhimmi) rights they are frequently the targets of persecution, firebombings, mass murder, and etc. and where these atrocities occur under Sharia Law it is a crime for a dhimmi to accuse a Muslim of a crime so the crimes go unpunished.

No, it is high time the Muslims found out that at least some people in the world have the nerve to say NO! to them.

What sort of shit will they blow up or burn if they don't get their way? There are plenty of eastern Europeans to do the jobs they were brought in to do, why not repatriate them now. It's not like they are citizens in most of the European nations they inhabit.

$1:
Egypt's top cleric called the referendum an "insult" to Muslims, while the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the biggest Muslim group with 57 member states, called the vote a "recent example of growing anti-Islamic incitements in Europe by extremist, anti-immigrant, xenophobic, racist, scare-mongering ultra-right politicians who reign over common sense, wisdom and universal values."

That has gotta be the best thing I have heard in a long time.

Strikes me as pretty feckless. I don't know how many of these symbols they have, but I suspect the goal here was symbolic. I mean, this doesn't really address any of the issues with too many Muslims in predominately Christian cultures--the subjugation of women, the corruption and influence peddling, etc.

So really, for no gain, they're just pissing off the Muslims. Which is probably the intent to start with. I'm sure the folks posting here and the Swiss far-right nationalists are hoping there will be attacks over this.

There were 4 minarets in 4 different city.
I also think it is symbolic. But, at least they are taking actions BEFORE they become like France or England.

The problem tho, is that I've heard the muslim population of Switzerland is very well integrated. They are 2nd or 3rd generation and they don't really have an Islam problem. It may kick back.

Godwins law aside, this is truly the banality of evil. A handful of hateful extremists pandering to the fears and insecurity of the masses, who are all to happy to pile on the bandwagon because attacking some other ethnic or religous group makes one feel better about themselves, especially when one doesnt have any real personal accomplishments to be proud of.

All of those who cheered Switzerland on should be ashamed of themselves. I get it - you hate moslems and anything that makes their lives more miserable makes you happy. Thats not fairness, thats persecution, you should accept it already.

Its hate-mongering, and laws like this are EXACTLY how it started with the Jews in Germany. I dont care if somebody calls godwins law, that claim is not a defence against a factual TRUTH.

And again, we see the same old, time-honoured excuses trotted out "But they wouldnt treat us fairly so why should we..." "If they had the power to do this to us, they would..." " But they did evil things to us so we can do evil things to them...". This is the banality of evil: The small-minded, self righteous drivel that serves to justify unfairness and persecution. Who are "they?" Maybe the muslims that fled to switzerland and the west are there because they DONT want to live under unfair regimes. Now youre punishing them for the actions of people they dont even support.

I get it. You want to feel like you're personally fighting terrorists, but youre too much of a chicken shit to actually joint the militiary so you think youre doing your part by being an internet hate monger. Or maybe youre just an old fat Al Bundy type whose past their prime, failed to acheive your life goals or just missed your opportunity to fight for your country (was on your 'to do' list) or youre just a clumsy nerd. Saying "way to go switzerland!" and cheering on the persecution of other groups makes you feel better about yourself for being born to a particular race, even though you had nothing to do with that fact. Hey, its easier than actually acheiving something in life. If youre going to be proud of yourself something, why put in the effort, right?

OK, the "losers" comment was totally uncalled for, just got caught up in rant I guess. Apologies to all affected for the unnecessary insult, its immmature and uncalled for on my part.

Still stand by the rest though.
