The oil sands may be horrible for the enviroment but here in Saskatchewan they are hawking nuclear power as a "green plan" that will cut down our carbon footprint but 12%.

But does anyone pay two minutes of attention to how much damage all that radioactive waste will cause! Oh hell no were all too worried about the damn carbon. Seriously we all need to tell the green people to shut the hell up and grow some good old fashioned common sense.

THERE IS A LOT MORE TO THE ENVIRONMENT THEN CARBON EMISSIONS. Until then would all the environment nuts please shut the hell up. Thanks. Come back when you stop hawking radioactive waste as "green".

Ya, that is a big city. If you like it so much go ahead and pull your trailer there. Maybe do some fishing...

Do you think they'll ever develop Saskatchewan's new found wealth

It is dirty and it's a terrible environmental blight.

That being said, until we find something else, we don't seem to have much choice. Self destruction is certainly soemthing we're good at.

They have been searching the west side for several years now. Found lots of tar sands and were in to develop it before the price drop hit. It covers a huge area in the two provinces and I know that only a small part of it will be developed, but it is right on the Clearwater which runs into the Athabasca which flows into Lake Athabasca and the Mackenzie River, so if they screw it up and it seems like they are going to, there is a lot at stake.

Edit:
And they are using natural gas to extract the oil from the sand, so they could be selling the gas and making a much cleaner profit.
