We have a resident doctor working with us who is from Iran. we discussed this statement with him and he said that the middle east considers attacks from the US as war against Muslim Countries and therefore Islam because according to him they are one and the same.

Now here's the problem. We go out of our way to state that we aren't at war with Islam, just terrorists that happen to be Muslim, whereas a growing number of Muslims in the Middle East consider themselves already at war with the infidel west. 8O

We're not at war with Islam? All those Western troops scattered across the Middle East sure fooled me...

As far as I can count, we are only at war with with two muslim countries. Iraq and Afghanistan and it isn't even with the country itself. Only individuals who threaten us who were protected by the Taliban who we are fighting now.

Any other troops scattered across the middle east is UN supported missions that are there for either UN relief or Peace keeping. Except for waters which is used for trade protection and pirate hunting.

nice, isnt it ?

and we are getting third hand information from someone who
is quite happy living in the 'infidel' West, and a Caliphate
man to boot.

Maybe all the Islamic countries declared war on us,
and we just lost the email in the spam folder :)

Derby, I am not defending the United States invasion in the Gulf. I am just stating that by your view of it Iraq was responsable for there own invasion due to there agression of a neighbouring country. You said it was western nations fault for acting as a agressor in Iraq the first time around but Iraq wouldn't have even been invaded if they had listened to diplomats and the U.S. Embacy in the first place and diddn't attack that country.

IMO the U.S. diddn't have any reason to get involved, they were just trying to police the world as usual but you can't put sole blame on the west for something Iraq provoked in the first place.

That is just as stupid as the UN's opinion on Hamas. As making them the victims of Israel's agression. Despite the fact they use children as human shields, that they kill children, target schools and target civilians and have been doing so for many years as a way to fight israel which only provoked them and gave them a valid excuse to put a military presence in the Gaza Strip which got Palestianians killed.

Israel should have been more careful about where they put airstrikes and that's there fault. Both sides are to blame for this conflict but Hamas was the provokator of this situation in Gaza. My point is that you can't blame one side while leave the other blameless.

Another example is Afghanistan, terrorists carried out terrorist acts on authority of a organization that used Afghanistan as one of there base of operations and recruiting grounds. Al Quada was the provokors and the Taliban protected them. Giving the west a valid reason to invade Afghanistan which lead to the death of many Afghani's. Specificly when they keep joining the ranks of the under-equiped taliban and enter the slaughter house against well equiped, trained troops with armor and air support.

Despite all our efforts to develope and buy more smarted weapons to avoide civilian casualties and stricten RUE that gives soldiers a better chance of getting killed all to reduce civilian casualties. All our efforts to re-build there country by developing and training there government, army, and police. Attempting to create jobs, building irrigation sytems and repairing and building water filters. Building schools, hospitals. Putting in billions to rebuild this country and we are still seen as evil agressors.

It is that blind view point and possible biased that makes fighting terrorists very difficult.
