Finally, Gary Coleman can make the jump from Security Guard to Cop.

Or he could join the Navy/ Maritime Command.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
There is no need to be hostile to the vast majority of cops who are just trying to do the best job they can.

Would you like me to remind you about your post saying what a bunch of misfits cops are?

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said that. I said cops have, in their membership, a disproportioanl number of mean people that are attracted to the job for socio-dysfunctional reasons...and I stand by that statement. I never said they were ALL a bunch of misfits. I agree, most cops are decent folks. Most of ANY profession are decent folks, I would hope. For the record, I have a couple of close relatives and friends on the police force. But don't kid yourself. There IS a thin, blue line between "us" and "them."

This is VERY disturbing to me. We have a profession that is already disproportionally composed of angry, stupid, anti-social characters and we're going to LOWER the standards?

So this is a ringing endorsement for cops?

You should choose your words more wisely.

Maybe I should. I meant what I said to be a ringing criticism of a profession, not an endorsement. Now don't get me wrong. Cops have a shit job to perform and I wouldn't do it for any salary. But there IS something about the job that attracts people that are the least savory character types to be performing that job. I'm certainly not charting new territory in this criticism.

Why, is he too educated for the infantry?

And you can back up your statements with actual proof?

British Infantry yes.

Canadian Infantry is a different beast.
They remind me of the the Royal Marines.
Educated warriors.

Nothing beyond personal observation, no. So, do you disagree with me? Do you believe that there are fewer or an equal percentage of aggressive, authoritarian assholes on the police force than in other professions?

If there were MORE stoner cops, it'd be a good thing for society.

Agreed,
