hmmm...a law that states military equipment must come from Canadian sources only...nice thought but not really feasible or practical...goodbye tanks, C17's, C130's, CF18's, etc, etc...

when you get a chance, and if it dosen't sink ships.. do people still carry a bayonet? If so, could we possibly find one that can do both functions?

Tricks Tricks: Knife makers won't vote for her regardless of what she said. The majority are pretty hardcore conservatives, and will never vote green or NDP. My 'knife maker demographic' comment was sarcasm. Having to explain that, speaks volumes about this forum.

My 'knife maker demographic' comment was sarcasm. Having to explain that, speaks volumes about this forum. I figured it was sarcasm in that it's not a very large demographic, not who they would vote for. My bad.

tritium tritium: I can't stand the Green Party, wish they would just disappear, nevertheless, the old wicked witch of the west has a point.
We all know the quality of Chinese made products. I sure would like to see a Canadian made product being used particually for this vital action. "Used by paratroopers to cut their harness..."
Actually, I would like to see a law that states all military equipment must be Canadian made.
Why should Canada trust our nation's safety and the safety of our soldiers on foreign governments and manufactureres. I don't agree with having everything for the CF made here, simply because building tanks, planes and other small orders would require us to set up the entire industry, almost from scratch. But Canadian companies should be making small, low cost items like this. What's next, ordering ammo from China? Still, the Greens caring about the CF is like the Conservatives caring about the poor...not goona happen. It's just an election issue...

I personally know Greens who care about the CF's. Not everything is as black and white as you paint it. Same with the remark about the Conservatives. My dad's been a staunch Conservative for almost seventy years and is a very giving person when it comes to the poor.

The greens also want to legalize and tax marijuana.
So in order to support this point on better knives for the military, I also have to support all their hippie bullshit about legalizing marijuana too.
Sorry, I won't do it.

C.M. Burns C.M. Burns: WTF happened to this country that we can't make a knife suitable for the job for a good price? Chinese laborers are not unionized, China's national healthcare standard is to basically allow anyone needing expensive treatments to die, and Chinese workers pay less in taxes than you do so they can be paid a smaller gross amount in order to have an equivalent net amount as compared to Canadian workers. I'm not trying to criticize or taunt, just pointing out the same facts that caused so much US and Canadian industry to go to China.

Frankly, I couldn't care less if the item costs more than those made in China or not. At least if we buy Canadian, we'll see some of it back in taxes. A purchase from a Canadian company is better than the tax breaks and otehr BS the parties give to their corporate buddies. Wasn't that the big reason we bought the C-17s, because Boeing promised to tender some contracts here? If there isn't a Canadian option at all, then I could care less where it's made, as long as it's good quality.

My dad's been a staunch Conservative for almost seventy years and is a very giving person when it comes to the poor. It wasn't a shot at individual Greens or Conservatives, just just a reflection on their respective party platforms and ideologies. I also know Liberals who believe in tax breaks/corporate handouts and NDPers who believe in supporting the military.
