I'm not sure, but I think Guantanamo detainees from other western countries have been returned to their country of citizenship at the request of the countries involved. Khadr is the last westerner there. The implication being that the Americans would release him if the Canaidan government intervened.

And they should. The Americans are operating way beyond their own law, so to say that he is being dealt with under American law isn't really true. Torturing a child is despicable, under any circumstances, in my opinion.

Hmmm--you've somehow entirely missed the point. Nuclear war presented an existential threat to me, Canada and the world. Muslim extremists may be able to knock off a few hundred civilians every now and then, but they present little threat to Canada continuing as a nation.

I live in a neighbourhood with a lot of Iranians and Iraqis. Their kids play with my kids. I play soccer with them. So far I haven't been beheaded.
