Found out about the second explosion.

RCMP say Kosolowsky, 21, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after triggering an explosion beneath a half-ton pickup truck parked in the Strathcona County Community Centre’s underground parkade.
The blast tore through nine other vehicles parked in the same row — causing the gas tank of a second vehicle to explode with first responders nearby. No one was injured.

Some saw a double standard in how the Sherwood Park case has been talked about.
In an opinion piece, Saleha Anwer said she watched comment sections on news stories fill with hateful comments toward Muslims in the 48 hours between the blast and police confirmation that Kosolowsky was involved. During that time, misinformation circulated online to such an extent that police took the rare step of asking the public not to “speculate” about what had happened.
“Interest died down immediately after it was revealed that it was a white male,” Anwer wrote. “The narrative is always that the white attacker is ‘mentally ill’ and by himself, whereas the ‘racialized’ attacker is a ‘terrorist’ and representative of the whole community.”
Dr. Vanessa Iafolla, a University of Waterloo lecturer who studies terrorism, said it’s fair to wonder the extent to which police, media and the public “might read in (Kosolowsky’s) intention if he had been of a different race, or a different religious background,” she said.
