BeaverFever BeaverFever: DrCaleb DrCaleb: It's called a downshift, and it's just as dangerous as the tailgating.
That's the joke - you get rear-ended and cash in because the other driver will always be found at fault. You get rear-ended, that person gets rear-ended, and in the resulting 12 car pileup 2 people die. Hilarity ensues.

Some dickwad tried that on me last week. Was doing 60 in a 50 zone, till he had to turn. Hit his brakes, then got pissed off because I was still doing the speed limit. Did a brake check on me with both feet, nearly got rear ended. I really wanted to rear end him too, wouldn't cause any damage to my truck.
He got out of his car, and I think he would have actually punched me, except I pointed to my dashcam specifically put there for assholes like that.

BeaverFever BeaverFever: Oh lighten up I'm normally a pretty jovial person, but I draw the line at personal safety. I taught at a Performance Driving course at the racetrack last weekend. The weekend before, I was at a fire rescue training course, where we practiced putting out vehicle fires and driver extraction. I've seen a lot of accidents on the racecourse, and only one because a driver was intentionally being a douchebag. Racing is not a place where you put you or your fellow drivers in danger because you have some sort of mental deficiency thinking your actions have no consequences. A vehicle can be a lot of fun, a great tool and an indispensable convenience. And it can also be very dangerous if not respected. I don't understand why people would think our highways are a perfectly good place to put other peoples' lives in danger.

At least it will be used as evidence against whoever kills me.

An utterly retarded Wop tried that on me a couple years ago, until he saw the crowbar I keep just for assholes like that. That, and his screeching fat cow of a wife, and he meekly got back into his car.

I used to carry a bat, ball and glove too. I put it away as it could only get me in trouble.

Soon enough, all cars will be driverless... and will follow speed limits to the letter. No need of photo-radar, no more cash-cow... no more fun.

raydan raydan: Soon enough, all cars will be driverless... and will follow speed limits to the letter. No need of photo-radar, no more cash-cow... no more fun. Lots of local governments are going to go broke when driverless cars come into vogue. No more moving violations, far fewer accidents, no one to accuse of drunk driving (and then fine for thousand$), and no reason to keep an army of law enforcement on the road. The legal system will grind to a halt without the billions that the cops, courts, and lawyers rape from us every year. We also won't need speed bumps, road signs, lane markers, traffic lights at intersections, stop signs, or any other driving aid. Cars will drive in fog at normal highway speeds. Also no jerks cutting you off in traffic all the time.

No more road-rage either... ...unless the 2 computers go at it.
